“Nice place for a relaxing drink”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

I liked to sit at the bar with an IPA. There are some nice views from the windows and there is a relaxed atmosphere. Happy hours are 2-5 and 8-close when there is $1 off alcoholic drinks. The staff were friendly and welcoming and there is a good selection of wines too.

“Delicious Penn Cove Mussels”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

The view is really nice if you can get a table by the window. Obviously the locals come here because they seem to have their favorite tables and stay there chatting for a quite a long time. The mussels are divine. We had ours with the linguini to soak up all the delicious juice. The bread was very fresh and crusty too. Service was OK but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a good place for a leisurely lunch while exploring the shops in Coupeville.

“Open even the day after Christmas”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Mussels fixed in a dozen different ways. Right on Penn Cove with a view from some seating. Very small and would be hard to navigate to your table if you used a walker or cane. Food is great. A bit above moderate in pricing. I like the idea that you can have the mussels fixed a different way every time you visit.

“The visit was average”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

We hadn't planned on any particular place for lunch on this weekday visit after 1 p.m. We weren't able to get a window table but had we it might have improved our visit. The service was average, my wife's salad was average, and my fried calamari was average (it was your basic chewy unlike the fresh calamari strips we had at Beaches in Vancouver at the end of the week).

It did in a pinch.

“Overwhelmingly poor service.”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

My husband and I were so looking forward to dinner in Coupville after a day on the island house hunting. We were not able to stay and eat at this restaurant after being seated at a table that the staff had to trip over to get around. There were several other tables open, so we asked to be moved when we put in our order. The waitress said she'd have to check with the hostess, who came to the table and denied our request. She reasoned that if she moved us to another table, it would start a "chain reaction" of people wanting to change tables. In essence, the diners at the Front Street Grill are viewed to be so stupid that they would want to be moved just because someone had. FYI, the jet noise is not killing Coupville, it's ignorance. The little bar up the street was great!
