The campsite boasts that it sits at the base of Devils Tower and it does indeed.

The staff was friendly and helpful.

By KOA standards the sites were larger than usual.

Campfires are not allowed at some sites. They do offer a group campfire ring, and they provide the wood and keep it going. However, if you want a fire at your site, you should inquire at check in.

We had a very hard rain and some sites filled with water. This was especially a problem for the tent sites, which flooded.

The pool was nice, but not heated.

The nightly viewing of Close Encounters was a nice touch.

Thank you for your comments Helen and Mike! We are working hard to provide our guests with the best experience possible in our rural area; including friendly, helpful staff and great campsites. I apologize for the weather and flooding in the tent sites. Unfortunately, we had an especially wet summer. As we look to our next summer we are reviewing our pool temperatures. Thanks again and happy travels!

Devil's Tower KOA was expensive and provided very little compared to other KOA sites. The shower facilities were horrid! Washer and dryer center -- most machines were broken and all were very poorly maintained!!!

Good children's play area which kept my two entertained for a good while.

Basically, the campground is in a perfect location so that's a definite plus but conversely, it allows them to overcharge like crazy!!

Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to let you know that the laundry facilities have been completely remodeled and feature all new washers and dryers. We are working to implement more entertainment including a game room, a volleyball court and basketball hoops. I hope that you will consider staying with us again next time you visit Devils Tower!

On a tent camping vacation, we included Devils Tower on our agenda. But by the time we arrived on a Saturday evening, rain was threatening. We didn't want to risk setting up our tent in the rain so we took everything out of our van that could get wet (plastic bins) and left it outside. That created some room. Our plan worked as it poured rain. The KOA has a massive outdoor TV screen and plays "Close Enounters of the Third Kind" every night. There are chairs in front of the screen. That is a cool addition to a campsite. We watched it until the rain and lightning forced to shut it down. Watching lightning around Devils Tower is very cool and creepy. We slept in our van. Our tent site had electricity and water. We had dinner at the restaurant which was fine. Servings are a bit small. The place had more customers than one teenage girl should handle, but she did a fine job. Camp staff was helpful and friendly. Bathrooms/showers were right beside our site. They were fine. Shower head is very high on the wall. Devils Tower is an underrated place in America. Very scenic surroundings.

Room Tip: Another good KOA campsite.

First great location. Couldn't be better for devils tower.

Bit surprised that told to pitch tent in open area with sites not marked out. Was ok but if very busy might not have been.

Communal campfires- noisy after quiet hours.

Wifi useless.

Staff seemed only interested in selling hayrides. No real service. Grocery store very overpriced.

Laundry tumble dryers did not dry clothes!! Machines a little old.

Clean enough but one of more expensive koa campsites stayed in with no justification except location.

Whole campsite felt soulless.

Would not return.

This large KOA camp is perfectly positioned for anyone visiting Devils Tower and seeking an overnight. We reserved in advance online (lucky we did because it was fully booked) and we were checked-in easily and helpfully when we arrived. Our pitch was extremely muddy and looking at others around the camp, there were a lot of pitches in a similar state. It did however have a lot of shade and was easy to back-in to it. Whilst free wifi is available, we could not do anything useful with it, we were warned at check-in that bandwidth was limited and it turned out to be the slowest and most useless of any of the 20+ sites we have stayed at over the past 6 weeks. We could not get any TV channels (not unusual). There is a nightly camp fire and a free showing of Close Encounters every evening with the Tower as a backdrop to the outside screen (wear insect repellent) although our enjoyment of the film was spoiled by a very noisy machine attached to the outside of the restaurant going off every 15 minutes or so. Although the area immediately around the camp and the camp itself are very pleasant, the camp has a slightly scruffy and worn air about it. The rate paid was reasonable as compared to other sites in the area. There are a lot of biting flies here – these and the mud made our stay less than enjoyable. We have stayed at better and we have stayed at worse KOAs so this one has to be rated at “poor average”.

Room Tip: Check your pitch first for mud

Our experience camping in a tent in a non-electric site was excellent. We were able to set up where we wanted, away from campers and RV's, in a quiet spot with plenty of open space. The campground is at the base of Devils Tower. The children enjoyed the pool and recumbent bike rentals. However, this KOA has some issues that made us question its management. The restaurant apparently has been under construction and closed all summer. With very limited food and groceries for sale in the immediate area, it would have been nice to have been warned by email before our arrival, especially when we emailed to ask whether the pool would be open after noticing online that it had been closed for re-tiling. We purchased delicious, slightly over-priced, ice cream but were surprised when the girl behind the counter asked directly if we wanted to give her a tip for scooping it. They still play the movie Close Encounters, but on a television in the otherwise closed restaurant rather than on an outdoor screen. The bathroom cleanliness was what we expect from a more rustic campground.

Well, the view from our cabin was wonderful. We had just left another KOA in SD and had high expectations. The one in SD was clean and well maintained. We decided to get a cabin and it was okay. It did the job that we needed it to. I've read a couple other reviews and I would have to agree that my biggest complaint was the bathrooms. The woman’s room dingy and by morning it was FULL of bugs. I understand it's summer and it's hard to keep them down but it covered EVERYTHING. It honestly grossed me out. We opted now to shower because I was afraid that they would also be dingy and dirty. We did use the pool in the evening and the kids really enjoyed that. I'd give the view an A+ but everything else I'd say at B- and that's basically because of the bathrooms.
