“Amazing View of Devils Tower from RV Park”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

This park is in an excellent location, the entrance to Devils Tower is more or less right outside the park and the view of the Tower from the park is amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the park was well maintained. The toilets and showers were in separate blocks for men and women.
We had breakfast in the park café, The Longhorn Café, which unfortunately was a total rip off. It was advertised as ‘all you could eat’ and coffee was available to pour for yourself. You could indeed eat as much you wanted, but there was a poor selection and the food wasn’t that fresh, despite the café only being open for 10 mins. As we hadn’t yet poured one, the waitress asked if would like a cup of coffee each. She brought us two cups, then we got charged for it, even though it was supposed to be free. All in all, not good value for money. Saying this, we recommend this RV park, but avoid the breakfast!

It was hard to title this review because this campground is nice, but had two significant flaws during our stay.

First, the positives..... location, location, location.....
You can step outside your tent or camper and stare up at the majestic monolith looming above you. It really is beautiful to be so close to the tower.

You might be in the middle of nowhere, but the campground has just about anything and everything you could want or need for your stay. Of course, they have little competition so I think that causes them to be a bit lazy with the property.

The showers / bathrooms are pretty nice with good hot water, and a staff that seem to care about keeping things clean. They could still work to do a little better. It is hard to be consistent, but I know I would keep things a bit cleaner.

Problems......
These involve insects, and could be readily resolved.
The dining room had more house flies than I have experienced since being on a farm growing up. I had to keep my hand atop my cup, and bounce my legs to keep them off. It is strange to me that they have allowed such a problem to grow. Simple things can be done........

Ants in the tenting field. Look, investigate some kind of people friendly ant-poison, and have the grounds sprayed a couple of times through the season. There were a plethora of small ant hills throughout the grounds. Sure, people draw ants because of food. That I understand, but there were way too many. They were on my feet regularly, and on the tent. (keep it zipped!) The flies in the dining room were a way-bigger problem because it was so unexpected to see 20 flies swarmed on a table. Their friends were busy hassling folks around the room.

So, overall, it is a campground that I have stayed at before, and will do so again. They just currently have some insect problems requiring attention. Perhaps management is not thinking that these things are an issue, but of course, they are. Dunno.....

You cannot reserve a specific campsite here, but there were lots available. The restrooms were clean at one point during the day, but filthy in the mornings after lots of use. They show "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" every night in the restaurant. Nice idea, but folks are eating there and the waitresses are constantly back and forth serving and clearing. Camp site prices were high comparative to other KOA's, but it's all about location. Awaking in the morning with Devil's Tower right in front of you is almost surreal.

We stayed in the only two room park model cabin they have. They have smaller cabins as well. We were worried it would be filthy based on old reviews but it was pretty clean. It's older and has had its share of use but for what it is we could not complain. Just remember to bring sheets as they do not supply bedding. There are dishes available to use. The staff was pretty nice and you can't beat the view of the mountain from certain places in the park. Note the your view of the mountain is blocked by a tree from this cabin.

This is the worst KOA I have ever been too. The overpriced Kabin was dirty and the garbage was full when we checked into it. The bathrooms were filthy. It was about 90 outside so we went into the Restaurant to cool off, it was hot in there too. So we went across the street to eat.

Stayed in a Kabin. Had a great view of Devil's Tower. The bathrooms and shower were very disappointing. The showers were separate from the bathrooms which is nice but they were very dark and had a few bugs. The women's bathroom however was disgusting in the morning, bugs all over the sinks, you could not set anything down it was literally covered. The gift shop was nice, and the restaurant was ok, nothing special.
View is excellent and the kabin was clean.
