“WOW - it will take your breath away!”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

It is not near as impressive in pictures as it is in person. I can't describe the feeling that you get as you drive closer and closer to Devils Tower. You can see it from a distance and it seems as if you just can't get enough pictures of it - sort of like the movie, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." There were park rangers around to answer questions and giving lectures about the monument as well as trails that you can walk on around the tower! Make sure you stop by the museum/gift shop - they have lots of interesting displays and information about Devils Tower. We were even able to see some people climbing the tower (with our binoculars) while we visiting. You will enjoy watching the prairie dogs on your drive up to the monument. Even though this exhibit is 30 min off the interstate, it is well worth the drive!

“On the Way to Mt Rushmore”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

This was on the way to Mt Rushmore for us. It was worth the Visit to learn about how the rock was formed. There is a great pathway around the entire rock with some great views overlooking the open country.

The Kids Loved the Prairie Dog Area as you enter the park. You can spend about 1-2 Hours here and then get back on the road.

“A bucket list item that didn't disappoint”

Took the hike around the tower and saw eagles and porcupines. The Junior Ranger program is great. it incorporates the Native American history with the geological history and provides you with a lot of information.

“See it if it is on the way”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Just exactly do what the title is: see it only if it is on your way. Since we are driving from Mt Rushmore going Yellow Stone Park, an hour of detour won't hurt to see Devils Tower. It's a big rock in the middle of a rolling hills. Quite a view to watch from afar and near. They offer rock climbing if you are into it. You can also hike to get really close to the foot of this tower.

Now if you are there just for picture taking, then you don't have to pass the gate. The best picture point is just outside the gate as shown in one of my photos. I rated this as 3 star only because of its limited things to offer and its distance from any other attractions.

One helpful tip, fill up your gas tank before you leave the freeway.

“Amazing to look at and walk around.”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

We liked taking photographs of the tower and wildlife. We also enjoyed both driving and walking around the area. They also had some neat little shops. The only dislike was that it was very busy and it was difficult to find a parking place.
