This was a great national monument to visit. There is a nice trail that lets you walk around the entire "tower" and see it from all sides. The kids enjoyed the trail as well, and we found some bones and other interesting things while walking, so it kept their interest the entire walk. There were a few rock climbers out as well, who were climbing the tower. The visitor center was small, but had some good information about the formation of the tower- that's a good place to go before walking around.

“A must see sight.”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

A photograher's delight. This massive landmark is a sight to see. You can also take a scenic walk around the base of the tower. You can read educational information as you walk. There are a couple of breathtaking overlooks too. They have a small gift shop with nice items to purchase.

What an amazing rock formation. Nice hikes around the base for ordinary folks and a challenge for climbers who want to go up top.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

We really enjoyed our visit to Devils Tower. It's just amazing to see the wonders of our great country! We also LOVED the prairie dogs that live along the roadside as you travel up to the monument. The only thing I will say is disappointing is the visitor center....small and crowded. Also they had no squished penny machine...I like to collect them where ever I go :-). I did however find a machine at the party store at the entrance of the park.

“Spectacular”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

While there's plenty to do and see in the Black Hills, the trip out here was well worth it. The tower itself is such a spectacle and it's good fun to observe it from all angles while doing the loop around it. We also observed two sets of climbers coming down on opposite sides. The view from the trail was a surprise, as the tower sits on a kind of dais that is itself high above the surrounding area, so there are several scenic vistas from the trail. On the way up (or down) there is also a Prairie Dog town and the residents were out and about even at 3pm on a hot July day. We really enjoyed our time here. Well worth the entrance fee ($15) and the drive. From there we drove north 45 minutes to make a brief visit to Montana. This was solely because I've never been there and want to see all 50 states, but I must say the drive up was gorgeous and at many points no other people were visible from the road. It was a wonderful sense of seclusion and peace.
