“Great place for us”
Reviewed October 17, 2004

This is a Motel 6. The building does not have charm, and your room won't feel fancy. (Many more expensive motels in Mammoth Lakes are just as charmless) But, if you're just there to ski all day, come home to nap, go out for dinner, come back to watch TV and fall asleep, and then get up at the crack of dawn to do it all over again, do you really need anything fancy? The great thing about this Motel 6 is that it is right near some good cafes and restaurants, and has a shuttle stop right in front (down a little hill). I feel like I got something great for almost nothing whenever I stay here.

We used Mammoth Lakes as a stop over from (unbelieveble) Yosemite to Las Vegas. We visit Bodie State Park and that was also beatiful. We stayd in the motel6 one night and that is enough, rooms are clean, small, with a fair price. This was the only Motel 6 we had on our roundtrip and overall I prefer the Days Inn or The Comfort Inn.
There was a motorclub in the hotel and they were quit during the night only they had to leave early and there where about 30 Harley's roaring at 6 am.
So, the whole motel had a earley breakfast.
We went right across the street to the Family Schat's for that breakfast and that was gooood, bud the wole town is eating there so it's busy.
The next time I will defenitly stay in Yosemite, it's more expensive bud also much nicer.

I stayed at Motel 6 in Mammoth Lakes only once. I was attracted by the low price. I spent a week at the motel and everything was fine until the weekend came. On Friday and Saturday nights, I couldn't sleep because of the busses loaded with people (mostly kids) were arriving in the middle of the night. The agitated kids were running around shouting until 3am in the morning. I guess because of the lower price, this place is one of the popular choices for tour groups. I found that the isolation between the rooms is bad and if your neighbors would decide to watch TV whole night long or have a party, you are up for a sleepless night. The ventilation pipe connects all rooms together and it lets a smoke from your neighbors to get into your room. So, if you are OK with noisy kids running around at 3am in the morning or with the smoke from your neighbors sucked into your room through the common vent, you will like this motel.

The rooms are clean, the sheets are soft, the bathrooms are clean, perfect for crashing after a hard day boarding. The shuttle stops right in front of the motel. The walls are actually a lot thicker than some of the other places in town and we've never had a problem with noise there. Restaurants & coffee shop w/internet are within walking distance.

Lots of folks might be leary of Motel 6's, given the paper-thin walls/floors and lavendar insecticide they used to use at a lot of their roadside joints, but the property in Mammoth Lakes is really quite liveable. The walls are reasonably sound proof, the clientele's upscale enought not to blast TVs at 2AM, the carpeting and furniture are nice. Also, the non-smoking rooms don't smell like anything. Not the Ritz-Carlton, and not the Mammoth mtn Inn, but very comfortable, albeit small rooms. Also, No frig, coffee machine, or microwave.

The only quibble I have is that they are pretty fully occupied on weekdays, so parking close to your room can be tough , and the parking lot is often about as slick as an ice rink.
