“Good value for Mammoth Lakes”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

This is a typical Motel 6, basic but very clean. We requested a fridge, which I think we paid extra for. It was a hot day and the air conditioning worked well and was quiet. We again paid extra for wi-fi but it was useless, it kept disconnecting. The other problem was with Motel 6's website - we had tried to book this motel the previous night in Ridgecrest, but we live in the UK and the website would not accept our UK address - there was no alternative for entering a US state. We tried to explain this to the receptionist but she did not seem to understand our problem. Also she was trying to check in two customers at once, which got very confusing!

We stayed in this Motel 6 after our trip to the Devil's Postpile National Monument.
We were used to Motel 6 and got a good one here in Mammoth Lakes. Adding to the Swimming Pool and normal clean room, we got a mini fridge which was very useful! But this seems to depend on the room.
All in all it's the kind of Motel 6 you're used to know or going to know.

Room Tip: For like 2$ more per night, you can get a fridge in your room and don't depend on the ice machin...

We arrived late and searched for possibilities to stay one night. Motel 6 was the cheapest place in Mammoth Lakes when we searched the web. Nice proper rooms, Wifi, Pool, big TVs. Ask for a room with windows which don't face the street and you are going to be happy with it.

We arrived late at night and just wanted a place to sleep. So we stopped here ... the rate was ok for the place but not as cheap as we were used for Motel 6. The front desk was very unfriendly and slow ... but what to expect from a place like this.
The room was typical Motel 6 ... just fine, nothing special.

I was really impressed with this motel. I wanted somewhere reasonably cheap and clean to stay to use as a base before starting a long distant hike of the John Muir Trail - this fitted the bill perfectly. The motel is situated in a good location with shops and the post office nearby. The staff were SUPER friendly and went out of their way to help in every way possible. For example, they let me store my suitcase in reception for 3 weeks whilst I went and hiked the trail! They also accepted a UPS delivery for me a week before my arrival and kept it safe for me. The rooms are clean and there's a nice pool.

We stayed just one night at this Motel 6 on our 3 week road trip through California & were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation. It was definitely no frills & basic, but what it did have was good!

We had prepaid on the Motel 6 website- $74.60 a night for 3 of us in double/double room.

Our room, which faced the pool, was very clean & beds were comfortable. Bathroom was absolutely spotless with powerful & easy to adjust shower over the bath. TV OK. Breakfast was not included & there was no coffee/tea maker in the room. Coffee (from a flask) was available in reception in the morning & there was a cafe over the main road which served tea & seemed extremely popular.

No fridge, but ice machine on site. No in room safe.

2 washing machines on site.

Pool looked good- reasonable size & clean.

Free parking, good wifi connectivity, but this cost an extra $3 per day.

Staff very friendly & check in/out straightforward.

Motel was close to all shops, cafes etc. in Mammoth Lakes & the area impressed as an excellent base for the myriad of activities this part of the state has to offer: obviously the mountain sports, walking, fishing, cycling etc, but also Bodie ghost town, the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, Mono Lake as well as Tioga Pass through to Yosemite.

We would happily recommend this hotel & certainly consider staying at other Motel 6's from this experience.

Staff was nice. Room was clean & cozy. Beds were comfortable. We couldn't get the room cool, so we could sleep comfortably; otherwise, nice.
