An "iconic" spot for large, luscious food, especially breakfast. Wonderful for before skiing or hiking, or anything else. Portions are LARGE, so be warned! Service is quick and efficient. Excellent alue for money. Try it; you'll like it!

We stayed in Mammoth Lakes for a single night en-route to Palm Springs, and happened on The Stove by chance rather than design. The sight of the home-cooked pies in the front showcase was all it took. We were greeted at the door and our server for the evening was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. My husband chose a chicken dish and I had the chicken pot pie and if you expect large portions, this is your place. Good taste but either menu choice would have fed us both and left room for pie. Alas, we left without the pie. Don't come here if you are dieting or have heart disease. There is nothing healthy or moderate about the menu, but great for the occasional treat.

Getting to the Sierra Nevada Eastern Slope is a feast for those who love the outdoors. The exciting combination of clear air, steep mountains, good highways and a wide variety of topography means adventure. Which stokes up the body and burns energy at a high rate... just being there is a dream come true. It refreshes one.

This is a SKI Resort but what to do the other 42 weeks? Stop in anyway, for some Comfort Food you will not forget. On a tip from my son; who drives up from Irvine, CA whenever he can, we heard about The Stove restaurant and never travel US 395 without making this required stop. One bad thing about Napa is its 250 mile distance from this region but the drive is worth it. Still we long for that trip which is good for the soul and for The Stove which is very good for the stomach.

No matter when we arrive, it is lunch time. The Stove closes around mid noon to change over from Breakfast/Lunch to Dinner. Timing does not matter, everything we have tried on the menu is good.

There is an airport at Mammoth; which shortens the ordeal (and the pocketbook) somewhat.

Three of us ate here last night and had a great meal at a really good price. Wine was good too although a limited selection. Would definitely recommend to a friend and would return again.

Both my husband and I got the prime rib so I can only speak to that but it was delicious. The Mac and cheese was yummy also. You could probably not go wrong with anything on the menu.
