A great place to stay

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 29, 2016
A beautiful place with nice staff and a breakfast that is very fine. Take a trip up in the Mountains and around the lakes. Map is in Hotel. In the early summer the river is fantastic. Mammoth Lakes is an ideal place for rest on the way to Yosemite from Las Vegas.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to submit a review. The mountains are beautiful here, the alpine lakes and the hiking that we are very lucky to have close by. Providing a healthy breakfast helps get our guest started for their day of adventures. Safe travels. ~ Leina'ala

Breakfast in the cellarroom could be better replaced in a upperroom, the cellar is a unkindly place for taken a breakfast. The breakfast was very good with enough variatie of bread, ham eggs, youghurt, drinks, coffee and thee and juices

Good morning, Thank you for staying with us and also taking the time to submit a review. We're pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast. If we had more space it would be lovely to have our breakfast set up in the main lobby instead of the original breakfast room since the 1970's. Safe travels! Leina'ala

We had booked this hotel believing it was a 4 star accommodation, how wrong we were. Our room was on the second floor, there is no lift and as my husband and I are in our mid 60's we found this a struggle with our luggage. Nobody offered to help. Our room had no inbuilt air conditioning and we had to make do with a fan, furniture was scruffy and needs replacing. We had no wardrobe. Worst of all our room was not made up the following day and our towels were taken, I had to phone reception and then go and collect them myself, we had no apology for the room not being made up. Despite all this we were not offered any compensation or reduction in cost for our room, for anyone with mobility issues there is no disabled access, and breakfast is self serve in the basement. Positives were a spa, which I used and a health breakfast which is advertised as a deluxe continental breakfast, although I'm not sure how they came to that conclusion. On leaving we asked the receptionist how it was advertised as a 4 star, she agreed it was more like a 2 star. Having stayed in some great 2 star accommodations I felt that was an insult to them.

Room tip: The suites looked good .

Hotel 7 of 14 on this trip.
Great little find and very comfortable stay. Great sized room and great beds. Good sized bathroom with nice toiletries, hairdryer and even toothbrush holder, loved the decor.
Didn't use the spa but did have breakfast which was great and plentiful.
Only drawback was no air con which I could of done with but in a quiet side so kept the window open all night.

Good morning, Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to submit a review. Glad you enjoyed our breakfast which is an expanded version of a typical continental breakfast. Air conditioning - Yes, I agree. I've lived here for 20 years and this has been the hottest summer so far. Not many hotels/motels have air conditioners in the rooms. Maybe because most of them were built over 25 years ago when the summers in Mammoth Lakes were not known for being hot. The weekend of July 16 the lows in Mammoth Lakes was in the mid 30s. We do supply every room with fans though. Have a great summer! ~ Leina'ala K.

This is a decent hotel. The common rooms look very tired but they have prettied up (my) the room with paint and a new bathroom. Room was comfortable. Free Wifi was fine. Free breakfast was modest and adequate. Staff were very friendly. Hall way noise could be a problem late at night. Hotel charges a 'resort fee' which was a surprise and is basically a joke. That said, I arrived after 10hrs on the road and didn't argue. There is nothing here that could justified a 'resort fee' which the room rate should have covered. Location near a mall and Krogers is useful.

Room tip: Challenge the resort fee.

Touring around California for two weeks, this was our stop over between Yosemite and Death Valley. The Staff are pleasant and helpful. Bedrooms could do with a makeover, though beds were big and comfy, also room clean. Bathroom looked fairly new and bathrobes are provided. There are also coffee facilities and fridge. We didn't use the spa, so can't comment and didn't have the breakfast either, preferring a hotmeal and popped over the road to the Stove. There's a pool room upstairs, which My Husband and Son used and said could probably do with an update, but was free. The Inn itself, is surrounded by shops and restaurants, but we didn't find it noisy at all. That said we were there on a weekday, so maybe busier at weekends and full season. Nice views of mountains in the distance, though our room over looked a car park and shops. There is also is a balcony which partly surrounded the upstairs rooms through a communal entrance, though not ours. In all ok for one night.
