The Mammoth Creek Inn gets one thing right straight off the bat -- location, location, location! Views of the Sherwin Mountains without other buildings in the way and a nearby shuttle stop can't be beat. The local grocery store is also a short walk down the street. Inside, all rooms have feather comforters (feel so good after a hard day skiing) and there is a hot tub and dry sauna too. Lodge Rooms are on the small side but other rooms in the building are gigantic! Some even have full kitchens. Probably the best thing about this hotel though is the helpful, good-natured staff and the number of people I met here from other countries, mostly European. How interesting it is to hear their experiences abroad when all my skiing is limited to the states. Overall, a great place to stay, very reasonable and comfortable. Next time I plan to reserve a pet-friendly suite and bring my dogs too!! :)

We stayed from 29 March to 4 April 2005 in a kitchen suite with plenty of room and a full kitchen. The bed was big and comfortable although the fold-out sleeper was less so and is probably best for children. Limited storage space for longer stays. The view of the Sherwins from our room was fantastic. It is a very quiet location.

The hotel has coffee and tea available around the clock and soft drinks and cookies in the afternoon. Main lounge had a gas fire and was a great place to meet other guests and relax after the day's skiing. Small upstairs lounge was cozy and also had great views. The Sauna and Jacuzzi in the basement helps aching limbs at the end of the day.

The Inn is only 100m from the Red Line bus stop which takes you (free) straight to The Village and Main Lodge. Its a short walk to several restaurants and Vons supermarket. The Stove is immediately opposite serving country cooking in enormous portions.

Management were quick to solve any little problems and were very helpful with local advice and information.

The Inn serves a continental breakfast. It was a bit disappointing but adequate. Pity its served in the basement when the views from the lounge are so good.

If you want somewhere with a bit of alpine atmosphere close to the centre of Mammoth this could be a good bet.

My boyfriend and I checked in at 4 am and checked out by 11 am the same day. We visit Mammoth alot and usually rent a condo. This trip I wanted something different, something special for my boyfriend and I. Boy, did I ever get something different alright!! Besides having to lug all our luggage up to the second floor (because there is no elevator), the room was incredibly small. My boyfriend and I were literaly stepping on each other just to get from one end of the bed to the other. There's not even room for a closet or such. There is a pole akwardly attached to the wall for hanging clothes. Frankly, the room was not as nice as the website advertises. After waiting for another guest to finish complaining about the uncomfortable bed in his room, I expressed my concerns to the staff and owner who was not very helpful. The owner boasted that this was the nicest hotel in Mammoth, well I have to disagree!!!! For my recommendations on where to stay check out, -------- we've always had the best of luck here. You can rent a condo for less than the Mammoth Creek Inn and get so, so much more!!!!. Or, you can spend a little more money and stay at the Mammoth Mountain Inn (right across from the Main Lodge) and also have a wonderful experience!!!! But, DO NOT STAY AT THE MAMMOTH CREEK INN!!

We spent a Virgin Holidays ski holiday at this resort, staying at this hotel. The staff were very attentive and personable, the room was well appointed with a huge (by English standards) comfy bed, and the hotel was clean, quiet and pleasant. The buffet style breakfast was exhaustive (no bacon and eggs, though - they weren't missed) and excellent. The road has many restaurants on it, I would recommend the country-style cooking place opposite, again for friendly staff and excellent food. It had a homely nature often lacking in America. We loved the free bus shuttle, and the snow and skiing were fantastic. The only drawback is the long transfer time - a killer from England, but it was well worth it, and we'd go again another year.
