“Nice restaurant, reasonable authentic, good beer selection”

Our Family went there after a day of skiing at Mammoth. Form the outside, the place looked like it was closed, but we ventured over there anyway. The inside is a friendly, alpine-atmosphere-pub/restaurant. Not too many people were there on a late Sunday afternoon. The service was friendly and efficient and we felt welcome.
I grew up in Austria, so I know a thing or two about authenticity. - This menu would score favorably with a variety of Austrian/German dishes, but also local favorites. We only had appetizers, but the GIANT PRETZEL was gigantic, fresh and very, very good. Its enough to share between tow or three people. The kids had the chocolate chip cookie in a pan (enough for two) and they loved it.
The beer selection was also nice, with tow or three German beers on drought and also some locals to choose from.
We liked it much better than the Austria-Hof. - Check my other review

First off, the map incorrectly shows the location as in town. The restaurant is actually located about three miles away, across the road from the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area main lodge.

The good: bartenders are quite nice and the service in the bar area is usually very prompt and courteous, there is an outdoor dining space with lovely views of the ski area and the climbing wall. During the summer it's the only place with table service at lunch near the main lodge.

The bad: the food is a mostly a wreck. Tired bar "classics" poorly presented and over priced. The Yodler Fire Chicken wings are so small and poorly butchered they look like they came from a pigeon abattoir run by a bunch of blind Freddy Krugers. The rock hard tomatoes in the Caprese salad are so poorly plated that you feel like you're eating in a prison camp. And run, don't walk away from the grayish off smelling sausage platter. About the only halfway decent item on the menu is the fish tacos and at $12.50 for two they'd better be.
More bad: the service both in the dining room and out on the patio can only be called a hot mess. In the last three visits (see above for why I bother to go back) I have never had all the items delivered as ordered. The last time we waited for 30 minutes to order only to have two out of the four items botched. The excuse, "we're busy" The reward for the insulting service and food was an annoying happy face newt to the server's name on the tab.
