Swiss Chalet Bed and Breakfast Inn
Reviewed March 26, 2014

En route from Death Valley, through the Sierras, to Yosemite, we stayed two wonderful nights at Swiss Chalet. Our hosts, Sharon and Dave, create a very special experience with the chalet, its furnishings, exceptional breakfasts, and warm conversation. This was our first visit to Mammoth (terrific restaurants and shops) and nearby Lake Mono, which was fascinating. We highly recommend Swiss Chalet and its hosts!

Room Tip: Either of the two suites is excellent

En route from Las Vegas/Death Valley through the Sierras, my husband and I booked one night at the splendid Swiss Chalet B&B. We wanted to take in the beautiful vistas along 395, Mammoth Lake and the petrified springs at Mono Lake. Encouraged by Trip Advisor reviews, we were delighted to find this B&B TREASURE!! As noted in other reviews, this is a 5-star property with warm, hospitable owners, Dave and Sharon, who are remarkably accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. One has to experience this B&B's beauty, comfort and luxury to understand why one night is not enough to enjoy the treasures of this property and surrounding areas. We will return to explore Dave's recommendations for hiking, fishing, skiing and sightseeing! After a hardy, gourmet breakfast, we said "good-bye" to new friends knowing we will return!

Room Tip: Both upstairs master king suites are beautifully appointed and spacious with a large walk-in closet...

We really loved staying at the Swiss Chalet during our two days in Mammoth. Dave and Sharon do make you feel welcome, like you're staying with friends. The bed is warm and cozy, the view of the mountains and the stars from the jacuzzi is beautiful and the breakfast is home-made and delicious. It felt more like a special experience staying at their home than just checking into a hotel. If you want to discover more than skiing in Mammoth, Dave is a wealth of information on things to do in the area. Both Sharon and Dave have years of experience in the hotel industry and apply that to a special experience for everyone who stays at The Swiss Chalet Inn. They will also provide a complimentary drop off and pick-up service in the area.

We had a truly wonderful stay with Dave and Sharon and only wish it could have been for more than one night. Dave was very helpful and gave us lots of advice regarding local sights and places to visit. He also recommended a great local restaurant. When we returned late afternoon from exploring we spent an hour sipping wine in the hot tub before dinner - so relaxing and just what we needed. The room and bathroom was spacious and comfortable, and super-clean, and we slept very well. The lovely breakfast was cooked by Dave, and we spent a very pleasant time chatting with him and Sharon. The Swiss Chalet is absolutely beautiful and so very welcoming and charming.

I would also like to thank Dave and Sharon for finding and posting my lost earring - their kindness and hospitality is second to none.

Dave & Sharon made us feel very welcome in their lovely home. Very spacious and super sized bathroom and bedroom, we were very comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing in the sun on the balcony when we arrived, a real tonic. Dave was very helpful in advising us on the sights to see and of the best restaurants. He cooked lovely breakfasts and catered for my gluten-free dietary needs. We had a very relaxing few days there and really enjoyed it.

Dave and Sharon welcome you into their beautiful home for a wonderful stay in the mountains. My honey and I stayed for five nights in late May and couldn't have been happier. We love to hike around Mammoth in the summertime and have previously stayed in condos. Here, we had nice breakfasts, met nice people, had wonderful accomodations, got terrific info on hikes and mammoth insider news from Dave and Sharon, and spent wonderful evenings on the fantastic balcony. I had overlooked what turned out to be our favorite hike near Yosemite that Dave suggested. The bed was super comfy (no back pain!). The bathroom and shower are hotel nice! I should have written this sooner but I see that others have done so and I couldn't agree more with their glowing reviews. Most folks stay only one or two nights but we loved spending more time and enjoying the home and the area. Highly recommended. (and no, not a paid commercial endorcement!!)

Room Tip: Doesn't matter. (there isn't a fitness center or room service but i couldn't figure out...

Can't rate this B&B high enough. Dave & Sharon are such lovely hosts!
The bedroom we stayed in was what you would expect in a 5* hotel but with the benefit of having Dave with all his local knowledge of all the beauty spots and the best restaurants.
We stayed in 5 B&B's on our Californian road trip and this was the only one that gave a freshly cooked breakfast which was fab!
