“Best Stay in Mammoth - Will Come Back!”
Reviewed December 5, 2010

When my son and I ski in April 2010, we discovered Chair 15 and find out Eagle Lodge to be a great place (away from the crowded Main and Canyon Lodges) to have lunch and take a break, So we decided this time we stay at Juniper Springs instead of Westin. We love our room ( 1 bedroom suit at 5th floor with patio facing to the slope). The resort is good value for the location, facility and service. During our stay we had a problem with our wifii internet, call front desk and they fix next day. One thing I found out is this facility is run by young peoples, they don't lip service (which some guests may not like) but they do get things done. So if you request or ask something, give some time and they will get you.

Pro:
1. Bigger and better room than Westin for same price.
2. Good location, ski in and out w/o delay, away from the busy places.
3. Hot swimming pool and tubs are excellent after a day's ski.
4. Efficient, low key, no frills kick back style service.
5. Towels - they have the most cleanest and white towels.

Con:
1. No restaurant attached.
2. Need to change that bedroom TV from tube model to LCD.

What a wonderful review! Thank you! It sounds like what happened to you is what always happens to guests who discover the secret of Juniper Springs Resort - they get hooked. Our location does provide the perfect ski-in/ski-out getaway tucked into our secret little corner of the mountain. Perfect quite, perfect service, just what you needed. We have had guests in the past express concern for a restaurant which is why this year we are, for the first time, offering room service from our bistro cafe and the lodge right outside our door is a such a great Also, our Homeowner's Association has been ordering an immense amount of new televisions which will be installed over the holidays. I am confident you will be excited about the upgrade during your next visit. Hope to see you again soon.

I spent 2 days with my son in a 1 bedroom condo 11/23-11/24. The kitchen was good. Microwave, coffee maker, oven, electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, and all the pots, utensils, glasses ... we needed. The bed was a queen (best guess I didn't really pay that much attention to that) with a hide away sofa bed. My son weighs ~ 130lbs and he said the bed was fine. It is a little noisy in the living room with the refrigerator... so he wore ear plugs. The people are great. We never had to use our car. They took us anywhere we wanted to go e.g. store, lifts.... Now the bad news. The heater in the living room didn't work and the toilet was clogged and had to be snaked. We thought the heater was OK because the rooms were warm but after I closed the door that night my son froze (no idea why he didn't say something sooner). The following day they basically rebuilt the the fireplace heater and snaked the toilet. After that all was well. The location is great because they have a lift to the side of the property. You can snowboard/ski to anywhere on the mountain from there. The people are great. They were extremely helpful and friendly. They gave us late checkout @ 2pm so we could snowboard all morning into the afternoon and then shower for the drive home later that day. They offered to put on our chains for free if we wanted them to. They have lockers for your snowboards/skis so you don't bring them into the room. The TV's are HDTV in the living room and NTSC in the bedroom. They use direct TV and most of the channels are for sale which was no big deal because I didn't go there to watch TV. Bring your Vons card with you because that's the closet super market to the resort. We will probably rent a place from them again.

Absent location, which was ideal, overall I was disappointed with our stay for the following reasons:

1) Surprise "resort fee" PLUS taxes on the resort fee after booking through priceline dramatically increased cost.
2) Booking direct on hotel website would have been the same cost as priceline.
3) Thin walls and very noisy neighbors throughout halls disturbed sleep
4) While No A/C at resort, room fan was adequate
5) Surpised to learn that on-site food and merchandise was ONLY available in the Winter due to high vacancy rate in summer. Had to go into town for coffee and snacks.
6) Not all TV channels came in

Thank you for your review and I am pleased that you were able to maximize the quality of your vacation due to the ideal location of Juniper Springs Resort. I was however surprised to read of your surprise to our resort fee. All online travel agencies, in accordance with policy, do notify guests that there will be additional resort fees upon check in.

Also, although noise complaints at Juniper are rare, we encourage guests to notify the front desk staff of any disturbances immediately so that we may preserve the relaxation factor of lodging for all guests.

During your future stay please feel free to notify our dedicated staff of any issues so that we may tend to them promptly. I apologize for any inconvenience. We truly appreciate your feedback and look forward to serving you again. Have a fantastic summer.

We really enjoyed our stay at Juniper Springs. Our condo was beautiful and had a very nice view of the pine trees and wild flowers outside our patio. The staff did a great job and there were plenty of eating locations and stores within a short drive. Parking was very convenient and it is nice that the parking is covered. My only complaint is the lack of air conditioning, which was fine during the day but at night we really missed it. If they install air then Junniper springs would be my first choice for Mammoth for sure.

It is a pleasure to read your review and hear how wonderful your stay with us was at Juniper Springs. As a result of customer input we are in the process of selecting an installer for new AC units. Just as you say, we feel this wonderful addition to our resort will help put us in the number one spot for guest lodging choices in Mammoth Lakes. Thank you again and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Entered the room and found all the lamps, furniture, tables, chairs, etc. sitting on counters, beds, and the couch. Looked like the front desk had booked this room right after the rug had been cleaned but no one had put the room back together.

The rooms are nice!

No coffee filters in the room, had to go down and ask for some and was given filters that don't work with the coffee makers in the room.

Don't be fooled about renting these rooms in the summer... NO AIR CONDITIONING and it gets very very warm up here in the summer.

We certainly appreciate your review and regret that it contained such an unusual inconvenience. We have a very frequent and rigorous cleaning schedule to ensure top quality cleanliness. I hope the room they upgraded you too was more than satisfactory.

Also, die to several comments regarding the air-conditioning, we are currently reviewing proposals for AC installations. It will be an exciting new addition to Juniper Springs Resort.

Please call us for your future reservation so that we can arrange the highest level of comfort for your stay. Thank you again and enjoy your summer!

We enjoyed our stay at the Juniper Springs Resort. The "Ski In, Ski Out" location greatly added to our fun, allowing more time on the slopes and less in a parking lot or waiting for a shuttle. There were a few minor problems with our room - mainly getting the heat adjusted - but overall we would stay there again because of the convenience. Ski lockers and covered parking are a plus, too.

Thank You for highlighting one of our best features - Ski In / Ski Out Location. Juniper Springs has the advantage of maximizing ski time for our visitors by virtually eliminating the need to pay for extra transportation from your lodging to the slopes. We look forward to your next stay.

The location here is key. You can ski in and ski out of the building. Nice that the ski lockers are on the first floor and about a 2 minute walk to Chair 15. The condo I found to be nice although not to the same level as the condos at the Village Lodge, which are much more "upscale" and in a better locaion if you're looking to walk to more places.

Downside ... check in, received a condo that had a terrible odor to it. Went back to the front desk and she was polite but said the best she could do was send housekeeping to "spray" it. Housekeeping arrived and the woman could not even enter the unit the smell was so bad. Her words, "it smells like a dead rat," which it absolutely did. I insisted on taking the housekeeping employee to the front desk to tell the check-in clerk and that was what it took to get a new unit. I appreciated that but for the price you pay, it shouldn't reach that point. A guest says the unit smells terrible, the check-in cerk should immediately work right it, and not just suggest that housekeeping will come and spray air freshener. New unit was fine (odor wise) however still some small things you don't expect at a four star unit. Remotes to the television didn't work and fireplace was broken. For close to $400 a night, everything should work.

Pool and spa area and fitness center were both very nice. Lobby was clean and well appointed. I'd still return as location was great and for a ski resort, you know it's going to get beat up in the winter season.

Glad you could enjoy the ski-in and ski-out advantage of Juniper Springs. And, even though it is not located in the village, our complimentary shuttle can take you anywhere you desire within a matter of minutes. Also, I do recall the incident with your room and how unusual it was. I am glad that the front desk was able to get you into a more suitable condo despite the high occupancy. Please do come and see us again! Thank you for your review. Feedback is always welcomed and appreciated.
