When we arrived at the Mammoth Lakes airport, our luggage did not make it. So we were not in the best of moods when we got to the hotel. The staff was very nice, explaining about the shuttle that could take us to get clothes, sundries, food, etc. They charged my phone for me, as my charger was in my suitcase. The next evening, Peter Andreadakis even drove us back to the airport when the airlines neglected to send our luggage with the shuttle. During our trip, we asked the staff to recommend places to go out and places to eat. Every question was returned with a smile and an eagerness to help. Also, the shuttle service they have is awesome!!!

We have stayed in the pricey slope-side condos at Juniper before and have usually had a great experience. This time, although the location was great, right on the slope next to Eagle chair, there were several problems with the condo. Worst of all, there was no housekeeping although it was supposed to be included, the housekeepers never made it to us for three days!! Every day we called the desk and pretty soon apologetic housekeepers arrived with towels, but they did not have time to clean (we did make them take the trash). I think the place is just under staffed. In addition, the dishwasher leaked, bathtub not drain, outside door not lock with key, and there were only 2 wine glasses.

We enjoyed our stay in Mammoth. First time here, first time skiing! Juniper Springs is a great hitel/condo and it has very easy access to the slopes. There is and on site coffee bar, hot tub, laundry. We liked the lockers available for,ski and sports equipment so that we didn't have to haul all that stuff up to the room each time. Nice, updated hotel/condo. Great place to stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 221 and it was beautifully updated. We found it very clean and comfortable with a...

Ever so disappointed with our weekend stay. We booked a one bedroom condo for the end of the San Diego ski-week, mostly because we wanted to try the convenience of the ski-in/ski-out from Juniper Springs to the Eagle chair lift and lodge. The location is the only thing Juniper Springs had for it and we won't be planning a return visit.
The unit was clean enough, however, the furnishings were huge relative to the space, and the dining room with 6 bear themed chairs made it impossible to get from the kitchen to the living area without running into a wooden object. Never mind the addition of piles of snow gear to further clutter the space.
The thermostat only worked in one direction - to heat things up. In order to reduce the temperature, we were told by the front desk to just open a window. This only seemed to make the fireplace and heater work harder, totally defeating the purpose - we were told that we couldn't turn the heat down or completely off. It's one thing to be cozy - another to be baking in the condo while there is snow just outside the window.
The walls were made of waxed paper. We could hear, word-for-word, the conversations occurring in the rooms on either side of us. I'd have preferred to have avoided listening to the teenage drama happening with the family on one side of us or the boisterous game being played by the kids on the other side. During the evening we turned up the radio to try to have our own space. At night, we had to resort to ear plugs to get any sleep as our bedroom wall seemed to magnify the snoring traveler sleeping in the room adjacent to ours.
Most frustrating (for a ski resort), the only option for a "late check out" is to pay 1/2-2/3 the rate of the room to check out 3 hours later than the 11 am posted time. This makes no sense in a vacation destination where skiers and boarders may want to get some morning time on the mountain before leaving later in the day.
Overall, poor service, abysmal lodging with the thin walls and too-big furniture crowding the room, and very poor value for the amount paid. We'll stay elsewhere next time.

Dear SDHapahaole,
Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor. Please accept my apologies for the challenges you experienced during your stay with us. Noise between rooms is something we seldom hear. Our staff can respond to any excess noise 24hrs a day. Having your window open as a result of the excess heat in the room, I am sure did not help either. The fireplaces are the main source of heat in the living room. While a lot of our guests turn them on for the ambiance, they tend to heat up the room very quickly.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Truly,

Peter A.

We booked a two bed-two bath unit for the weekend after President's weekend because our usual rental at The Villages was not available. We paid about the same price as the Villages would typically charge. This property is not comparable to the Villages in any other way. Dirty bathroom (don't ask), broken ski locker, patio door that could not lock, very noisy children in the unit above and very spotty wifi were a few of the items we encountered. No restaurant or bar on the property was also surprising. The snack bar/store on property offered very little so we had to drive to the grocery store a mile down the road.

The positives were that it is well-located adjacent to the Eagle Lodge.

Mammoth Mountain is an awesome place for a family ski vacation. The mountain is huge and there are ample trails for all abilities. We were there over February vacation and never waited more than 5 minutes in a lift line. Most of the time we just skied right on to the lift.

We stayed at the Juniper Springs Resort. We had a little bit of an issue our first night. We returned to our room after going out to dinner and found our key didn't work. When we went to inquire at the desk, we were told that that a mistake was made and that the owner was using the condo and we needed to move out. I must admit I was more than a little annoyed. We were not offered any type of "compensation" until my husband complained the next day. They then offered to not charge us the $20/day resort fee. I think they could have done a little more, but at least they did something.

Our 1 bedroom condo was fine; adequate size and comfortable, but not particularly luxurious. The location is certainly convenient, just a few steps to the lift. We had use of a ski locker which added to the convenience. They have an outdoor heated pool and a couple of hot tubs but I have to say they are quite small and did not look all that appealing.

The biggest downside to this place is the price. The 1 bed condo was about $500 a night and the lift tickets are very expensive. Also, they definitely need to improve their cafe/store they have in the lobby. There is close to nothing there and what is there is ridiculously overpriced. ($4.50 for a 12 oz bottle of water)

All in all, we really enjoyed our vacation at Mammoth. The skiing is awesome, the staff at Juniper Springs were very nice and helpful, and the location was very convenient. I would definitely consider going back.

The location (right next door to Eagle Lodge) is fabulous, and clearly that is what you are paying for. However, the rooms definitely need upgrading and were a disappointment considering we were paying $500 a night. Despite requesting an upgraded room when I made the reservation, the one I received felt tired and worn (old box TV, stained carpeting, wobbly dining chairs, missing dresser knobs, ripped sofa). Sadly since the location is great, I will try somewhere else next time I'm in Mammoth.
