We saw there were mixed reviews for the Sierra Lodge, but appreciated the honesty of other travelers. We found the room pretty much as stated, it was clean and the staff were very accomodating to our needs, staff was great. The continental breakfast was, lets say very modest. This really is a good place to stay as base camp for whether you are hiking or skiing and just enjoying Mammoth. The beds were comfortable and towels and linens very clean. Not a romantic place by any means, for that you will need to pay more elsewhere. Enjoy it for what it is, a good place to rest up for the night. The public walking areas (Carpet) need cleaning and walls could use a good coat of paint.

We stayed 2 nights at the Sierra Lodge. I will agree that the rooms do need some updating but our main concern always is that hotel rooms are clean. The room was clean and we had an excellent view of the downtown area and hillscape. My main compliments go to Rusty, who assisted first timers to Mammoth around town from dining to even giving us advise on where to find more information about local hot springs. We might have stayed at a larger, more modern hotel with all of the bells and whistles, but why pay more when you spend most of your time out of the room enjoying all the nature Mammoth has to offer?

Mammoth seems to be quite an expensive place to stay and I looked through a number of hotels on trip advisor before booking. The Sierra Lodge rated highly and at a cost of around £80 was good value in Mammoth. We arrived early and although there was a mix up with the booking, we quickly got assigned a room. There were no kings ready but we got a 2 queens room with a balcony. There was a nice view from the balcony and we sat outside for a snack and enjoyed the view. The room had a fridge and microwave which we didnt use but could be useful for others. There was also a jacuzzi which was great to use after a long day of Mountain Biking and the garage underneath the hotel felt secure. The location was good - close to shops and restaurants and only a short drive up to the gondolas for mountain biking - something I would definitely recommend if you are sporty. There was a basic complimentary breakfast to help us get going in the morning too. All in all the hotel was good, although I was a little surprised it was rated #2 at the time of writing, because although it was fine, it was nothing special.

After staying at the Sierra Lodge over the busy 4th of July weekend, we can highly recommend this establishment for value, central location, and comfort. The room was well appointed and spacious. Our balcony had a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The bed was quite firm and comfortable. The room had a kitchenette, which included a microwave, refrigerator, and sink. Coffee and breakfast items were available each morning in a lounge overlooking the mountains. The manager Robert made some excellent recommendations for local dining and was helpful in pointing out easy access to local hiking trails.

We were very pleased with our recent stay in Mammoth Lakes at the Sierra Lodge. We planned to spend a lot of time out of doors and we started out with short notice. So we were pleasantly surprised with our find. The room was spacious, nice little amenities (ie., nice soap, shower cap, even moisture lotion for the dry climate), micro and fridge, table and chairs, nice sheets and thick towels, comfy mattress., underground parking. Room looked fairly recently redecorated. OK continental breakfast. Also we had a few nice restaurants within walking distance for dinner, plus a cafe next door. The back stairs were rather dirty, but we figured out it was due to the mountain bikes being taken up to the rooms. Even without the small AAA club disount it would be a lot of value.
