“Great Stay in Mammoth”
Reviewed July 15, 2011

We stopped in Mammoth on our way to Lake Tahoe and decided to stay at the BW High Sierra Hotel based on great TripAdvisor reviews. We weren't disappointed. We travel with a toddler, and this is the first hotel where I requested a crib and it was in our room BEFORE we arrived! HOORAY! Our tired child went to bed quickly, instead of wasting time waiting for someone to bring up a crib. Another great feature of the hotel room was the large in-room refrigerator, and I always give kudos for a nice, clean bathroom. Good towels, too! Free breakfast can't be beat, but it is a little overwhelming and busy in the morning as everyone tries to take advantage of the free food. The staff really worked hard to keep up. All in all, very pleasant stay and we would definitely stay again or recommend to friends!

I was looking for a hotel in the Mammoth Lakes-Bishop area and came across this hotel thanks to previous reviews on TripAdvisor. This hotel is a short drive off Highway 395 and is in walking distance to various stores and restaurants in Mammoth Lakes. The staff was friendly and attentive. The room was clean and a nice size. The only drawback here was the parking was a little tight. This hotel also has on site restaurant/bar which is nice if you don't feel like leaving the property.

We made a reservation at the High Sierra Hotel in Mammoth Lakes as a jumping off point to Yosemite. We were surprised to see it was the same facility that we had stayed in several years ago as a Holiday Inn Express. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a large guest room with a king bed and separate sitting area and free internet service. There is a very good free breakfast with freshly made hot dishes (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes) and a good selection of breads, cereals, and beverages. There is an inside pool, which several folks seem to be enjoying. There also is covered parking, which works both for snow in winter and sun in summer. A good restaurant, Slocums, is just across the streat, and there is a very good fly/outdoors shop next door.

It is a nice hotel but somewhat worn and tired. There was a crack in the sink in our room (I swear it was there 4 years ago), and the carpet was clean but stained and had been patched. Oddly, the bathroom door automatically closed but the door to the hallway did not. Best Western should consider updating the facility, particularly considering its Plus designation.

We enjoyed the hotel and would stay there again.

This is your average hotel that you must pay a premium for since it is centrally located in a resort town.
Positives
-free decent breakfast buffet (eggs, potatoes, bacon, cereal, etc.) that was not overcrowded
-covered parking
-room was spacious with a decent bathroom

Negatives
-Perhaps it was just our bad luck, but we could hear EVERYTHING going on next door. All night, we could hear toilets flushing and water running.
-We arrived about an hour early hoping to check in to give my infant daughter a decent place to nap after a long time in the car, but they refused to let us check in. We had to drive around town. When
we returned, I had to wait about 15 minutes to check in because of the slow service.
-We had a kitchenette in our room, but the burners were very slow, and the fridge was running all night. We regretted paying extra for such a small slither of space to cook.
-The windows have no screens, so it was alittle scary trying to air out the room on the third floor.

Overall, I do not think I would stay here again

If filled the requirements. It had every thing that was needed.I don't know that much about the services though, but I guess they are okay. I would definitely recommend it to a friend because it is a nice and a very comfortable hotel.
