“very enjoyable meal, warm and comfortable surroundings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2014

The two of us had a really good meal here after a long drive. We were tired and were looking for quick and tasty food. The service from booking to payment was professional and attentive and the offerings on the menu interesting and different. We particularly enjoyed the oysters and the sea scallops, which we had as appetizers. All the items we chose were from the happy hour menu and so were $2 or $3 cheaper than equivalent items from the main menu. Selected alcoholic drinks were also offered at happy hour prices. We were able to eat very well without breaking the bank and would happily eat there again anytime.

Went with family for the first time and it was a great experience. Service excellent, food delicious, esp. fried avocado and overall great time. Definitely would return to this restaurant in Mammoth Lakes town area.

“Creative Chefs, Good Happy Hour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2014

They offered a good portion of their menu at a discounted price during happy hour. Their hamburger is very unique and off the charts good. We had breakfast there two days and were happy with the unique menu they offer for breakfast. The staff were courteous and attentive.

“Mixed bag”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2014

Rafters has been a Mammoth Lakes classic for decades, and we wish we could give it an unqualified thumbs up. From service to food, the quality was inconsistent. The wait staff was friendly, but follow through needs improvement - and this was not a busy evening. It took four requests to finally get the fireplace lit. Food varied from very good on down. French fries were served at room temperature and overly crisp. Hamburgers were served at a 'doneness' that varied from that requested. The scallops appetizer had a delicious sauce, but was also served at room temperature with the inside almost raw. The grilled caesar was done to a black char on one side rather than a crisp grill. Our party of four was not totally pleased with our overall experience. We're afraid that Rafters falls prey to 'resort fever', where no one is that attuned to each and every diner's experience because the customers are transient. Too bad.

Mammoth is full of restaurants and rafters is one of my favorites. Their wine list is a real treat with premium selections
