Owner description: You can relax in the heated springs of this popular fishing spot.

Popular with fly fisherman yet not many people make it out here. No gondolas or glitz here - just a beautiful meandering stream with a plus for anyone interested in geology. Hot Creek features a volcanic hot springs that would sear the flesh from your body. Dramatic!

Honestly one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. No real care is being taken by the Forest Service who manages the site. Be careful of the broken fences that jut out into the walkway. Must see!

Hot Creek provides lots of opportunities to walk and take pictures. They no longer let you actually get in the creek.

The area is beautiful and quite interesting, but it takes a long time to travel out on the gravel roads and almost all accessible water is roped off. You have to either jump the fence or just imagine what hot and cold water feels like. We were happy taking a quick hike down along the creek and snapping a few phoots. If you have time, I would stop here just to see it. Otherwise skip it, it isn't a must-see.

OK, so 14 people (and counting) have been scalded to death and it stinks of sulfur...they still had to fence it off to keep people out it (sigh). Worth a look...head down the "Mammoth Lakes Airport" off SR 395 road to visit.
