“Yummy but pricey”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Head to the deli in the back of the bakery for a delicious sandwich. Fresh sliced meats ( but they were out of roast beef, and this was several hours before closing) on your choice of bread. I opted for the ciabatta roll with turkey, and it was delicious. The sandwich, which included a pickle and cookie, was $9.95 - a bit pricey for a sandwich, and then the slice of cheese was an additional dollar. Not a great deal, but it was yummy, and it IS a resort town! I went back the next day to get some fresh loaves of bread - again, pricey - $8 a loaf - but you MUST get bread from Schat's when you're in the area. For some reason, I got there when it wasn't busy (!), and was so glad I did, because the crowd outside and the cars trying to get to, the store in Bishop was ridiculous!!

“Great service”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

This Schat's is no longer owned by the one in Bishop, but it taste good, but no cookies, The service their is excellent and the bread does taste great especially if you toast it with a little butter.

“Great SheepHerder's Bread”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

This Schat's is almost as good as their parent bakery is Bishop.
All the breads are fresh and delicious and there is always a long line, which says something. I was there at 7 AM and people were already lining up for the next fresh batch of breads..sourdoughs, 7 grain, etc. etc.

“Great baked items.”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

I love this place. They always have phenomenal baked items. We love the squaw bread and croissants. The only downer is the line can take forever. So get their early or expect to wait in the line. When you go home, buy some bread to bring home.

“Have the turkey sandwich!”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Go to the back of the bakery to the deli area and have a freshly carved turkey sandwich. Your choice of light or dark meat and your choice of bread. They carve the meat off the bird right in front of you. Comes with a pickle spear and a cookie and a half sandwich is only about $5.
