We took the gondola to the highest point and it was so beautiful. The hike is not that great, but the views are gorgeous. Make sure you hike to all sides. Each one has unique views. From one side we could see all the lakes. From another we had the views of the city.

It was the first week of August and it was windy and kind of cold. I suggest you to take a wind breaker or hood. even on a hot summer. Not sure if it is cold all the time.

We saw many mountain bikers also taking the gondola. It must be marvelous going down these mountains.

The lunch there was just OK.

Look for discounted tickets from the hotel you stay.

This is a huge ski resort with a massive number to trails for all levels of skiers and snow boarders. The snow here is dry and fluffy due to the fact that you are on the eastern side of the Sierra Mountains. In the summer, you can catch a shuttle service from the lodge to many different trail heads which gives hikers and backpackers access to some of the most beautiful backcountry in the Sierras.

We've been visiting Mammoth in the Summer for over 30 years. It is an outstanding Summer location, don't tell anyone :). There are activities for everyone- hikers, mountain bikers, outdoor enthusiasts, anglers, runners, etc. Stop in at the Visitors Center to map out a nice plan while you are in town. Make sure you visit Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls, Lake Mary, Lake George and some of the backcountry lakes that are a mile hike away like Lake Arrowhead.

Going to the top of Mammoth Mountain is a must. No matter if it's summer or winter, the views from the top of the mountain are breathtaking. I can't wait to go again.
