The food here was excellent, but the noise level was so noisy it was impossible to carry on a conversation.

For the most part, I enjoyed my trip to the Brew Works. The food was excellent, the beer was above average, and the atmosphere can't be beat. The brewing tanks are out in the open (not behind glass like most brewpubs), the boothes are made of steel pipes, and murals decorate the walls. I went during the christmas season and there was a nicely decorated tree as well.

My only complaint was the service. It was 10 minutes before we could even put in our drink orders (which they got wrong). To buy any merchandise, you have to go to the bar and it was over 5 minutes to tell someone what I wanted and over 20 before I actually got it.

I would recommend this place, but I would also avoid it during peak times (unless you have plenty of time to kill).

If you're looking for interesting microbrews, the Brew Works is your place. With a full menu of beers brewed on-site, and seasonal features that incorporate familiar flavors for the specific time of year.

If it's a great meal that's on your mind, stop here for a drink before heading to one of downtown Bethlehem's better restaurants. I've yet to have a good meal here...for some reason I keep trying.

Downstairs from the Brew Works is Steelgaarden, which serves as more of a lounge than the bar/restuarant upstairs. Here you'll have a more "sophisticated" crowd (as compared to the other nightlife in Bethlehem) with a full compliment of the microbrews and some Belgian beers.

Have fun!

I haven't been here for about 2 years, but it was good to go back. I sat upstairs, where they have a big mural of steelworkers sitting at the bar. The place was busy (it was a Thursday night), and the service was prompt.

Their homemade beer was $3.50 a pint. I had their India Pale Ale. Shots of VO were $4.25, not bad considering a tall double shot glass.

I enjoyed their roast beef sandwich with au jus, though the au jus was the Brew Work's Beer & Cheese soup. It was very good. Onion rings although a $1.50 extra were excellent.

They just enlarged their basement, called the Steel Garden, but I've never been in it.
