Our flight was delayed by weather and we flew on a holiday. However, we located a warm and inviting restaurant one block from our hotel.
Upon entering we received a pleasant and cordial greeting from the hostess. We were seated by a fabulous display of wines. Felt as though, I was in Europe. Nice and casual and appears to be a local favorite.
The last time I saw a menu selection this vast, was when we were in Sydney, Austrilia. Our waitress, Rachel, knows her menu well and gave us outstanding recommendations. Since it was late and we had to get up early the next morning, we wanted to eat a light dinner. We had the following tapas:
Tortilla Espanola = Spanish omlette wit potato and onion
Mejillones con Chorizo = Steamed mussels with chorizo and french fries
Setas at Ajo = Wild mushrooms with garlic and olive oil
Calamares Fritos = Fried Calamari om smokded tomato sauce
Did I say light? The plates were tastefully done by a chef who cares for the food and customers. The portions were good for 2-3 people. All the food had big and bold flavors. Our favorites were the Setas at Ajo ( Wild mushrooms with garlic and olive oil) and the Mejillones con Chorizo (Steamed mussels with chorizo and french fries).
Now, if you thought we had dessert, you would be mistaken. It was a wonder we were able to walk out of the restaurant. This is the way everyone should feel. Happy and fulfilled with excellent food.
I would return and I would invite my travel friends to eat here, as well. Andrew Zimmern would be pleased.
