“Small, but worth the time”

Pocono Indian Museum
Ranked #3 of 5 things to do in Bushkill

The recorded audio guide was very helpful in learning of the history of the various tribes in the area. The lighting is very dim in several places and we could not read the captions, so were glad for the audio guide. Apparently, the first Nation people were there for many thousands of years and were wiped out by the white man in 100 years--very sad and tragic. The last full blooded Delaware (a woman) died recently. The people who put together the exhibits made good use of the spaces available.

Enjoyed looking through the gift shop, too. Purchased for my daughter an articulated, wooden horse that sits on a shelf.

We really wanted to like this place. We visited the poconos in April and almost every attraction was still closed. We arrived at the museum and paid $12 for 2 adults and 1 child to enter the museum. We were handed a recorded guide. The museum is very....home made?? It like walking through a kids club house. its really small and boring. We started with the automated guide but it was so slow. After that we turned it off and just browsed on our own. We were through the entire thing is about 8 minutes. Lame! The gift shop was neat though.

Do not let the outside of the building make you drive by and not stop. The artifacts were all found within 20 miles and the people running the museum are knowledgeable as well as polite, kind and helpful. It was an excellent collection and should not be missed. The history lesson was super,
