I am a vegetarian, so my options were restricted. But the waitress was happy to do some custom things to my order and i would call it a good meal in the middle of a national park. The next morning, we went back for breakfast, and it was good again. If i am in Death Valley where there is no food around the huge park, i would surely go back for a meal.

We were there over New Year's and they were simply overwhelmed. Maybe on less busy times this would be a place for a good meal at a decent price. We also dined at the main dining room at the Inn and that is a much nicer experience.

Staff were great and gave good advice. Libby (or Libbia) the best server we have ever seen. Takes great care of us!

Stayed in the park just before Christmas and ate dinner and breakfast at the Forty-Niner. Breakfast - eggs, bacon, pancakes - was good, as was the service. But dinner was poor - burger appeared to be a precooked frozen patty that was reheated. Charred on the outside and dry, crumbly and grey on the inside. Our dinner experience was high price and low value.

Go for breakfast, lunch sandwiches are good, try the turkey. Hamburger was to be served on a ciabatta roll, but came on a dry ordinary bun.
