Great hike, but make sure you are in shape, because the trip back up is a challenge, but worth it. Take water.

It looks like a miniature Meteor Crater in Arizona, but this "Cinder Cone" is only about 10,000 years old.

Fantastic crater and well worth stopping on the way to the Racetrack or Scottys Castle or even just to see this crater.

Magnificent views and the sheer scale size and colour of it is awe inspiring. We walked down to the bottom and spent some time at the bottom and then hiked back up to the top again. Word of warning it is a steep climb back up and is difficult underfoot and of course with the extreme heat makes it even more challenging! As with everything in Death Valley give it loads of respect and take plenty of water!

This was a highlight for my family. I wish we could have stayed longer and hiked the entire thing, but it is huge and hiking it was out of the question for us. Photos here are amazing. If you have made it to Death Valley, you really shouldnt leave without seeing this.
