“Highlight of the Trip”

Do you want to feel like you are on a true adventure? This is one of a kind. A high clearance 4WD vehicle is a must. Roads are unpaved, windy, and scary as hell. But so worth it! There is even a small ghost town in the mountains. MUST SEE.

“Titus”

Breath taking, narrow canyons that finally open into the most scenic and open valley I have ever seen. WILL definitely visit again.

“What a blast !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

We devoted an entire day to this feature of the park and so thankful we did. From the Red Pass to the slot canyon at the exit, it was non-stop adventure and inspiration. What sets this place apart is that it is not overrun by tourists by virtue of the fact that you have to actively set aside a chuck of your day just to get to the entrance of this area. It is also highly recommended that you drive a study truck, SUV, or 4-wheel drive to navigate the washboard road in some areas. (Although we did see a few people beating up their poor low-clearance rental cars!) I highly recommend this drive, but take your time as scenic pullouts and a number of mines await your discovery.

“Offroad must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2014

This is the best canyon trip in the valley.Rent a jeep and go to Titus canyon. The road starts in the desert but soon has you climb up over a mountian with switchbacks and great views. There are no guide rails and its one way so the dirt road is narrow .You then decend into a valley and then the canyon. There are many different types of things to see. Take lunch and stop often to look and explore you will not be disappointed. I have done this on both a motorcycle and a jeep many times. The light different times of day make this a different ride each time. The reason for renting a jeep and not using your own car is the rocks may cut your tires. The rental jeeps have heavy duty off road tires.Stop by the rental place and see the many cut tires for your self its cheaper to rent than have to buy a new tire.

“Worth it.”

Definitely need high clearance vehicle and maybe 4WD - but its worth it. Just remember that it's ONE way. Goes by the ghost town of Leadville. Great side trip
