Owner description: Perhaps the most memorable thing about this Death Valley canyon is the trip you'll take to it.

Rent a 4 wheel drive or use your own 4 wheel drive. I would rent.
This is a tough road, but the scenery is gorgeous. Long drive.
33 miles one way, but takes 2 l/2 hours. On side of mountains
with sheer drop on one side. No guardrails. No passing except when indicated.

I did this using a Jeep Liberty and honestly would not do it using a low clearance sedan without 4WD.

A farabees jeep is an overkill for this. I found the jeep more than adequate for the trip.

This is a classic DV road-trip. Starts at the Beatty end of the park just beyond the ghost town of Rhyolite. I found the first 2/3 rds of the trip far more exciting than the last part. I especially enjoyed the drive through Red Pass leading into the ghost town of Leadfield. You will encounter some close hair-pin bends and climbs that will put you at the edge of your seats.

But it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience that will take you through some fantastic vistas.

Titus Canyon actually starts beyond Leadfield. There you will encounter some narrow sections that are interesting to negotiate.

All in all, if you have a high clearance car, go for it and have a blast. It is totally worth it.

Every time you look in a different direction it is jaw dropping. This is a great drive that I think does not require a jeep rental. There are tons of great photo opportunity's. Titus Canyon is a must do!

The park recommends 3-hours for this drive, but we took much longer and enjoyed being the only ones hiking to viewpoints, etc. This is a beautiful and varied drive, with many opportunities to get out and walk around or hike.
