“Instead of a ghost town -- it's a ghost factory”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

You can see the white crystals on top of the ground. It's amazing how people just up and leave things and nobody takes things.

“Nice drive, possible hiking”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

If you like the Zabriskie point formations, you'll like this too. It's a scenic drive, no problem for a standard auto. However the high point for us was walking around in it. Much of the road is single-car width only, but there are places where you can pull over and not block traffic. We didn't see any trails, but generally in Death Valley it's permissible to walk around almost anywhere. The rolling hills are fairly easy to walk and quite scenic. Just be careful to keep oriented -- want to be sure you can get back to your car.

“Slightly unbelievable!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

This is such a tortuously wiggly canyon trail that our huge car wasn't that easy to drive down it, so to think about the early settlers getting 20 mules dragging their goods along is really quite unbelievable. One of the highlights of Death Valley for me.

“great drive”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Loved the view and rock formations. The drive was fun and the hike is recommended for sure. Need a good 4X4 for sure and no RV at all sharp turns and narrow snaking roads.

“Better than Expected, A Nice Diversion”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Located only a few minutes from Furnace Creek, this detour proved to be exciting and offered some other-worldly views of the valley. My expectations were low as I pulled off the main road in my rental minivan, but the twisting turns, gravel surface, and roller coaster hills made this 5-10 minute drive a blast. I actually went through it a second time with a GoPro mounted to the hood. A lot of fun with high return on time invested.
