My daughter and I are Ghost Adventure fans and decided to participate in a ghost hunt on the Amargosa property for a 4 hour period from 7pm to 11 pm. The property is amazing. The murals painted by the owner, Marta, who still lives in a house in back of the hotel, are beautiful. The talent this lady has is unbelievable, she is a treasure. Finding the Hotel is quite another story. We drove in from Vegas via Parump, thinking it would take only 30 mins, It took more like 50 and we weren't sure if we missed something, like a turn. You are out in the middle of the desert with GPS that doesn't work? and no cell service, very comforting! We passed "yeild crossing" signs for cows, wild horses, antelope, deer, and turtles!
As for the ghost hunt, well, awesome. I will go back to Amergosa to see the wild mustangs wandering freely, it is an ecclectic experience. Even if you don't stay, stop in, have a bite in their cafe, say hello to Rich, the Manager and Property Caretaker. He can tell you about the amazing history of Amergosa and Marta, it's well worth the visit!

The history is amazing. Marta no longer performs, all though she would like to sometimes our age (hers 87) catches up to us. The murals in the opera house were all hand painted by Marta and are amazing to see.

You must make reservations whether you are planning to attend the events in the Opera House or just spend the night. There is a restraunt that serves good food at reasonable prices considering where they are. Long Street Hotel and Casino is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby attractions are Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Shoshone as well as Tecopa Hot Springs, and Death Valley National Park.
