This park has an interesting past which anyone who visits the area should visit. The nature trail is also nice.

“Fun & educational”
Reviewed January 7, 2012

Very informative park ranger talks and demos of Cortez and Native American weapons suitable for all ages. You can try on armor and shoot a crossbow. Walk the beautiful woods surroundings on the Braden River opening into Tampa Bay. Free. Restroom facilities and park store with theater. Small, low key memorial. Highly recommended.

“A favorite for a relaxing walk along the river”

Lovely place for a walk through mangroves along the Manatee river. Educational and peaceful. Not so large that you get tired. Friendly staff. Check out the awesome limbo tree!

“Enjoyable history lesson about De Soto.”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

Actors portray how living was when De Soto made his entrance into Florida. Paths along the river brings you directly with natural Florida. Museum center very interesting explaining De Soto's entrance into Florida and his journery north and west.

“A great place to visit for a few hours.”

Never crowded; clean bathrooms; an informative introductory movie. a gift shop, live explorer period demonstrations and a shaded trail through the mangroves makes this a fun and educational stop. No charge to enter.
