Snooty shares his Aquarium pool with other manatees that have been injured or orphaned and are being rehabilitated for return to the wild as part of the Manatee Rehabilitation and Release Partnership.

We made it a family trip and we all enjoy it. Manatee aquarium is very interesting with the oldest manatee, Snooty, which was celebrating his 65th birthday. The planetarium exhibition was very nice too. All the rooms in the museum part very nice kept and very interesting.

A group of us went, & the adults weren't very impressed. The kids, though, we're transfixed. The museum is really interesting, especially the touch tank w/live urchins & other sea creatures. We went on a Friday where there was a fascinating nature film. There r free science talks periodically for the community. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Loved the manatees.

There are some interesting displays and the planetarium is okay for adults; however, everything can be viewed in an hour or less. It was also hard to get a very good look at the manatees. I did buy some books from the gift shop. I would not recommend this attraction, but the gift shop is worth a look.

Overall, we were not impressed. The planetarium show was rather boring, and the manatee exhibit was also. This would probably be a good place for families with children. The museum was the most interesting part, but I wouldn't recommend it for adults unless there was nothing else of interest to do in the area..

The South Florida Museum is great for all ages and interests. A giant mastodon greets you when you enter. Exhibits show humans have lived in Florida for 12,000 years! You can see real canoes and stone/shell tools. Snooty and his manatee pals Cheeno and Longo are a delight to watch, and the aquarium has a small but interesting touch tank with sea stars and urchins! The Bishop Planetarium was fantastic!! Try to plan to see a live star talk, its worth it and you can see other shows too about the planets and stars- ultimate universe and extreme planets are the best. So much to do, make sure you have 3-4 hours at the very least! They also show fun films on fridays and host monthly science talks for free! A true Florida treasure right there in bradenton!
