We had a terrific walk at this preserve. It was a sunny and warm day when we went. I especially liked going up the tower to get a better view of the area. While we were there, the fish were mating so it was exciting to see them jumping out of the water. There were tons of fish to watch jump. I would love to go back again someday.

We vacationed on Anna Maria Island in December. One morning when the weather had turned cooler and overcast, we decided to go for a hike along the paths in the Robinson Nature Preserve, which the friendly woman at the botanical garden had told us about. You park in the lot and then access the trails either from 17th Street (off 75th St NW) or 64/Manatee Ave W. If from Manatee, the parking lot is on the south side and the trail head appears to be on the north side --but you do not have to run across the busy road; instead walk east in the lot and the trail goes under Manatee. Make it to the observation tower; since Florida is so flat, the climb is well worth the view you obtain from up there. Wished I had brought binoculars along, though. There are miles of paths and boardwalks and several signs (so you won't get lost) as well as park rangers monitoring the area. We saw just as many people biking the trails as walking. What a wonderful no-cost attraction for both locals and visitors to the area.

The wildlife is abundant, especially birds. There are more fish is the warmer months, but it's still a break spot for kayaking, with in beginner spots or in the bay.

Visited on a cool weekday morning and did the trail to the ocean. Fabulous boardwalks and lookout tower. Saw many birds. Entered off 17th Street. Plenty of parking. Doing the trail from Manatee today.
