“Wonderful week at Best Western, Bradenton”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

After a few days in the Best Western last spring, my wife and I returned this year and stayed for a week. Our room was spotless; the bed was comfortable, and the service was alway pleasant and helpful. The good breakfast gave us a good start for each new day, and in the afternoon when we had a little time to spare, we quite enjoyed lounging and swimming in the outdoor pool.

We were here for 2 nights. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, as was the lobby and breakfast area. Room with 2 beds was quite cramped. TV service was poor. We questioned this and were told that it was "clouds with the satellite service". Not sure we bought that. Breakfast was pretty standard. It was nice that they offered a variety of beverages 24/7. Just felt for the price that we could have expected newspapers at the door, and a bigger, quieter room. Staff needs to be better versed in local non-chain restaurants to recommend. Hotel is a bit tricky to find since it's on a very busy highway, and there's just a very small sign. Best thing we can tell you is it's behind Cracker Barrel. The walls are very thin and we heard a lot of noise from room to room, from other bathrooms (the one guy would have been SO embarassed!) and from the hall. Also I pitied anyone whose room was near the elevator because the voice prompts with the elevator were quite loud. And the in-room air was wierd. We like to have the fan running all of the time for white-noise. Well the only way you could do it with these goofy units was to keep on the fan without heat or air conditioning. If you used heat or A/C the air would kick on-kick off - noisy and annoying. Let's just say that our recent experiences at Holiday Inn Express have been better. Just didn't think the rooms were worth the money and the horrendously high taxes.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel.

Dear Nothing Special, I am sorry you had these problems, had you contacted the Front Desk or any staff member we would have been more than happy to help you take care of these problems, The Taxes are out of control due to the city controlling them with a resort tax, I would write the mayor if I were you, maybe he will do something about them, as far as the TV we do have Direct TV and being close to the ocean we get Heavy Clouds that do cause an occasional problem with reception to the Dish. We are currently changing our service over to a complete direct Cable to keep this from happening. For the Money you will find that we don't charge for any local calls, long distance calls or any type of service such as faxing, printing, free wireless internet, a free full hot breakfast with two types of eggs, sausage and much more just another added value that most hotels charge for, This area has seasonal rates in the winter months that are some what higher, when you were here however you will find that this hotels rates are $15 to $25 lower than any other hotel in the area, the Holiday Inn Express that you mentioned is always higher than this hotel and it is not even a new property like this one, I would venture to say that if you went down the road to another hotel as your room tip says that you will find yourself walking into a lobby that smells of smoke the minute you walk into the lobby, I had 12 rooms a group leave that hotel (the Holiday Inn Express and come here to stay last week all stating that they could not take the smell of the smoke. We are a smoke free hotel 100%. When Traveling you will always find when you stay in any hotel that your neighbors are much closer to you then when at home in a house and noise does tend to travel a bit. I hope you find this information helpful and thanks again for staying with us.

Yours,
Chris Sears

This was a nice property to stay at and the rooms were nice and breakfast buffet very nice. In life to me it all boils down to people and the manager here Chris Sears was the kind of person you wish you had as a neighbor as he was very personable, accomodatng and just a really nice guy that went the extra yard for you too. Great Stay.

A bit tired on the outside, the hotels rooms themselves looked recently upgraded and were lovely. Hard to find because located behind Cracker Barrel restaurant on Cortez. Lots of shopping and restaurants along Cortez. About 10 minutes to beach. Got great seniors rate.

This was our second time staying here. Rooms are nicely appointed and well maintained. Lots of free parking. Personalized service - they did not have peanut butter at breakfast as they did last year - but Dan gave me his own personal jar of peanut butter every morning when he saw me. Close to restaurants, beaches, Sarasota and convention centre.

The rooms in this Best Western are beautiful and comfortable. The hotel is, I believe, 5 years old but it is in really good shape. It looks new. The rooms are quiet providing for a good night's sleep. The staff is quite friendly. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

This was a great hotel and one of the better ones i have stayed at. The staff from Chris on down was really friendly. The room was great. The only issue I had was that the internet was really slow for some reason. But other than that it was an enjoyable stay.

A note for travelers - the hotel is behind the cracker barrel. Easy to pass hotel and not realize it. Did it twice myself...
