The Carillon is a great way to get a large portion of Dayton history. The layout across various structures is a nice way to stroll through the great collection. The staff is stellar and their narrative made the day. I'm a history major and I was amazed with the background of Dayton and the important roll they have played in American history. The animated displays are amazing and really add to the story. Don't just rush to the 1904 Wright Flyer because you will miss a great museum throughout.

We really enjoyed going through the Cash Register Exhibit and regretted we had too little time to stay. We will definitely go back!

What Greenfield Village is to Detroit, Carillon Park is to Dayton. Here is a collection of vintage buildings important to the development of the area. Many of the displays highlight the inventions and industries of the area. Antique cars in one building include a Stoddard Dayton which was included in the film "The Great Race". The Smithsonian has the first Wright Brother's plane, which barely got off the ground in North Carolina. Carillon Park has the Wright B flyer (the Wrights lived in Dayton) which was the first practical plane that could fly and turn, etc. One building has a history of transportation with many early forms of transportation; trains, stage coaches, etc. An early limestone house is fairly small and housed a large family. Sometimes in the summer on weekend there activities for children using stilts, etc.

Lots of great exhibits, knowledgeable staff, and an amazing environment for fun learning! One of the best Saturday afternoons I've had with friends in a long time.
