“Fun spot in the middle of the city”

The Oregon District provides a little for everyone - Jazz, Food and Drink. Somewhat of an odd collection; towards the end there appears a number of XXX stores but no matter, doesn't seem to degrade the area.

“Home to Art, Music, Food, Drink and Fun in Dayton”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

My wife and I have visited Dayton for over ten years because our son moved there. From our first visit to Dayton we have been visiting the Oregon District for good food and fun. This is the most interesting few square blocks we have seen since our last visit to New Orleans. The Oregon District is Dayton's most celebrated destination because of the mixture of businesses and interesting people. There are porn shops and tattoo parlors side by side with art stores, a brewery, and many very diverse restaurants. If you are not tolerant of people and lifestyles different than you this might not be the place for you. If you like to have a little late night fun give this place a try. There are somewhere near 20 bars and restaurants within three blocks of each other and it has its own home town brewery in the middle of everything. You can usually find live music or live entertainment in several places in the Oregon District most nights. The down side is it can get a little rough late at night so don't wander around alone after you have been drinking too much. Like New Orleans you need to drink and behave responsibly. Have fun.

“I wish this Historic district was bigger.”

I liked the small independent shops, I disliked the XXX rated adult store and the number of Tattoo Parlors. Several blocks reminded me of Greenwich Village in NY. AND the is a large CHESS SHOP there --> too bad it wasn't open when we walked passed. I'm a chess addict.

“Nice variety of restaurants. ”

There are a good variety of restaurants to enjoy, parking can be an issue. There are a lot of bars as well and it is not very child oriented.

“The Oregon District”

Save your money and travel to Columbus instead. Any remaining restaurants are simply struggling o pay their bills and the small area is anything but picturesque. Taxpayers money supports the area but it continues to attract a bad element that makes the entire area dangerous..
