The economy has caused the townspeople of St. Marys, Ga to create events just for their small town. St. Marys is famous for a "go-back" in time life. Here life is simple, quaint and on purpose as it plans not to have things like Disneyland. It is a town full of talented, inventive and purposeful workaholics. The latest creation signifies this goal the town of St. Marys is trying to accomplish: A ride on the ole The St. Marys Railroad.
They are most fortunate to have the financial help of the ST. Marys Express and the dilligent work from the town volunteers. Everyone that wanted to volunteer their time was given a "part" to play in this creation from the hobo, zombies, singers, costumed actors, ticket takers, concessioners, conductor, etc. The Navy Sebees volunteered their part by building the frames for the flat-bed cars. The scenery for the play was the same as when the train first ran down the tracks. Also on view is the old Train Station where the engines were repaired which is now the St. Marys Little Theatre
It is priceless to be able to go back in time with your children or just to enjoy what you remember about the railroad rides.. It was about simple fun. The children loved it. Plans are in the works for future developments. I would recommend this to one and all.
