We toured Cumberland National Seashore off the South Ga. Coast beautiful I recommend it for able bodied hikers and casual strollers alike be in St. Marys at the dock by 9 or 11:30 if you want to go . On return we decided to stay at the Riverview with the ghosts of JD Rockefeller and other notables ... O ld time rooms lots of antiques a nice veranda to sit on good food and a good local saloon all contained within... Its not the Ritz anymore but its historical and friendly... If your fussy, dont go

This big, old house has more of a B&B feel to it, even though rooms are complete with basic amenities. Proprietors were very pleasant. I had both dinner and breakfast onsite and both were very good. Locatio, adjacent to Cumberland Island ferry couldn't have been better for me.

i can't believe someone could give this place a poor dating. my room was great. spotless, quaint, affordable. a cool hotel. the lobby and halls really take me back in time. like a hotel in the old west perhaps. i ate dinner in the bar on the first floor and had an amazing meal and a ton of laughs.

Room Tip: look on their website and figure out what you want. location, beds, etc.

The old Hotel faces the St. Mary's River separating Georgia and Florida. It is central to the Cumberland Island Ferry, dock, and shops. The reception by the young male manager was cool, as he barely spoke or smiled. In contrast, his female partner was chipper even when housekeeping. The room was very clean, cool and homey, but the common areas needed some sprucing up. The high temperatures prevented accessing cold tap water, and the shared tiny fridge led to guests squabbling over water bottles. The lazing animals were a treat, but the left over breakfast items were not. Overall, it was a mixed experience, but I would recommend a stay.

I really don't understand why this place is rated so highly. It has two things going for it, it's dirt (emphasis on "dirt") cheap and it's right next to the ferry for Cumberland Island. Despite these things I would not stay here again. The whole place looks like its about to fall apart. I understand the charm of old buildings but this place is just gross, dirty and dilapidated looking. I would not recommend this place to any one. Also the staff was no where to be found most of the time.

We weren't sure what to expect upon arriving at Riverview. The initial online booking option was convenient. Even though we weren't able to reserve our initial preference online, the proprietor was kind enough to arrange an option that was as close as possible to our initial preference. The workers were knowledgeable and helpful, but never pushy or high pressure with sales. Gaila, who helped us the most, made us delicious homemade lunches each day and made sure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The room itself is nothing like a Hilton garden inn (no flat screen tv, desk, or other items that typically prevent the possibility for true relaxation)... But rather contain the simple necessities. The balcony off of the hotel has a perfect view of the river... And the entire experience is a perfect opportunity to relax and bond with a significant other or with family. We cannot express enough how helpful, kind and thoughtful Gaila was. This was our first time staying here... And we will undoubtedly be back.

Booked this hotel for the first night of a Cumberland Island trip; rooms seemed cheap and the view had to be great. Got a little nervous when they mixed up my room number and trip date in the confirmation email, then took two more tries to get them both corrected, but that was no biggie.

On arriving, the place is just a touch more rustic than you would probably want. There was an uncovered outlet in the room, several of the windows were cracked behind the shutters, and everything seemed pretty dingy. Furniture in the common area was "oh sweet jesus I ain't gonna sit on that' level.

Everything else was pretty much as expected and the little side bar was actually really nice. If you're okay with a really shabby (but reasonably clean) room you'll find it okay for the price, but I won't be back.
