Greatly enjoyed the Broasted Chicken. Service was good. Will eat there again. Liked the "Eat" sign outside. It's not fine dining, but it fits well with good western fare.

My husband and I went for dinner. He had the french dip and said it wasn't the worst he'd ever had but wasn't the best either. I had the open face roast beef sandwich and the gravy was gloppy. We thought the prices were high for what you get. Maybe we should have paid attention to the other reviews and gotten hamburgers. We looked at the breakfast menu and decided to stop at the grocery store and get something for the next morning to eat at the hotel.

Pickles Place was packed on a Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when we visited and ordered a buffalo burger (medium) with cole slaw, a grilled chicken sandwich with fries, an iced tea and a glass of chardonnay. The burger was red/pink inside, the chicken pink in portions, and the fries a bit undercooked. On the plus side, the cole slaw tasted super fresh, the iced tea home-brewed, and the wine (although Franzia was the only option) arrived in a glass the size of a bucket. Service was down-home friendly, although brusque and busy, and there was sincere concern about the dicey chicken. Not a repeat for us.

We ate there twice. First time we split a combo. Next time we had the special of the day clam chowder followed by catfish. The food was good, the service swift and efficient and the cost was reasonable.

OK it is not fine dining, but on both of our visits the place was full of locals enjoying themselves. Foodies may be disappointed but travellers wanting part of the American experience should be delighted.

Had the Atomic burger menu said grilled onions and mushrooms. Got a burger with canned mushrooms and onions that looked like they had been done in the microwave. Pickle was not crisp. Wife had French dip which was edible but mediocre. Bottle of beer was served warm but was readily exchanged. Would not return or recommend.
