Bill Cole understands hospitality and his inn has something for everyone. The view from our room, the Presidents' Room, was amazing, and we loved returning to the comfort of York River Inn after sightseeing. We were so close to Yorktown amenities, and could walk to the Victory Center and the Battlefield from parking at the foot of the hill. Bill has a great collection of Virginia memorabilia and books, and graciously shared his experiences and travels with us. His culinary skills are amazing and the breakfast memories still make my mouth water. All in all, I think York River Inn has the best of comfortable surroundings, convenience, and great food. It is truly a great way to relax and enjoy the great state of Virginia.

If you want an experience where you are made to feel right at home - book now!! We have experienced several B&Bs and this was one of our favorites. We stayed in the Washington Suite and LOVED it. The view over the York River is stunning. Bill's breakfast MUST be experienced - Crab-a-Dab-a-Doos are really, really great!

Wonderful views and a great location combined with amazing food and great conversation...we just can't say enough about about the Inn. The bed in the Washington Suite was very comfortable, too!

We visited the Yorktown River Inn for 4 nights and stayed in the Washington Suite. It was wonderful... very relaxing stay and loved all the Washington memorabilia and talking w/Bill, and the wonderful breakfasts of course! We hope to go back again, and told friends about it! Thanks Bill!

Yorktown is a very nice place, very peaceful. We liked the town and the B&B so much that we modified our plans to stay two nights instead of one!

The breakfast was excellent, warm meals, home made and while you eat, you may see plenty of hummingbirds through the patio door.

We had the President room, with seen on the river and private balcony. The toilet comes with a remote control; lots of laugh!

The owner if amateur of American history. You can't miss it when you visit the house, there are interesting documents everywhere on the walls.

The service is personalized (we could borrow roadmaps, and the owner helped us clean our windshield!). And no trouble for the parking, there is lots of space.

In brief, we shall keep an excellent memory of this place!

This was our first stay at a B&B and it won't be our last! I surprised my husband with a weekend of R&R at York River Inn (YRI) and that is exactly what we got. The property sits on a bluff overlooking the York River. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the humming birds feed from 2 humming bird feeders. We enjoyed the homemade cookies that were always available. Bill's homemade breakfast is out of this world - there are really no words that would do his breakfast justice. It was just incredible! We stayed in the Pocahonas Room. It was beautifully decorated with wonderful collections of Pocahonas. The room had all the comforts of home - sometimes I forgot I wasn't at home =)

Bill is a wonderful host. His attention to detail is impeccable, his knowledge on Virginia history is amazing. His willingness to help you plan your day from exhibits to see to places to eat is a huge help.

We will definitely tell our friends about this wonderful find. We will be back!

  • Liked — Bill! He was fantastic.

We loved our stay at the York River Inn. Bill is a superb host, cook and is full of useful information about Yorktown - its history, restaurants and attractions. He provided absolutely every thing we needed for a wonderful, relaxing stay. His attention to detail is obvious in the way the Inn is run.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay in the Pocohontas Room. We are recommending this bed and breakfast to all our friends. I just hope that we will be able to get a room for our anniversary visit next year. Bill prepares the most delicious breakfasts; they were the best that we have ever had. We were very lucky to have two other very compatible couples staying at the same time so that we had long, leisurely breakfasts. Bill even shared the recipe for peach and nut French toast. My husband's men's Bible study and breakfast group will really enjoy it.

The view of the river and bridge is really relaxing. The whole house is beautifully decorated with historical pieces and pictures. It is a little like being in a museum that is really comfy and welcoming. We found the place to be really convenient to visiting all the sights in Yorktown as well as Williamsburg and Norfolk.
