“Lunch in 1730 colonial building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

We had a very tasty lunch at this quaint place in historic Yorktown. Excellent Brunswick stew, tasty small ham sandwiches and a great blueberry bread pudding. Very charming place--our only complaint were the plastic glasses and plates--seems out of place in this kind of setting.

“Truly charming, and tasty to boot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

This is one of the cutest little restaurants I've ever been to. It's set up in just a few small rooms of a historic Yorktown house. The floors creak and the walls are decorated with old pictures, knicknacks, and even a colonial child's dress. There's nothing fancy about the food -- the menu is quite limited, and most dishes are composed in a very simple, old-fashioned way and served on small plastic plates. Keeping with the theme of the restaurant, giant slices of carrots are the garnish for pretty much everything. The specialty of the house is the ham biscuits, and they really are divine -- it can be hard to eat just one, and I often end up ordering a second!

“Yorktown Treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Lovely place to dine. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Great menu, with interesting names and creations. The cottage is steeped in history. They do "high teas" at scheduled times during the year. . Did I forget to mention the carrot cake.....Yum!

“Great Food, Historic Building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

I have been to this restaurant three times, and the food has been excellent every time. I was upset when I heard it was going to close, but the people rallied and they were given a new lease by the national parks. Goes to show how much the community likes the carrot tree!

“A historical place with outstanding food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2012

This is a great place to eat in historical Yorktown. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. It is a small area but the house has so much history and is beautiful. We didn't wait long before our food came out and after we ate, we were very full but still had room for the amazing warm apple pie for dessert. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You can sit and imagine about what history the house has seen. It is a home from the revolutionary war period and it has been kept as original as possible. This is a great place to eat for anyone.
