“Great Price, Great Ride”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

Patient crew, wonderful time, pleasant stories, informative all the way around! I read a few reviews that complained about the trip not going out to far distances but when one pays for a two hour tour, one cannot go TOO far. We were able to watch a storm roll in with plenty of time for our cruise and to be able to arrive back before the rains.

The crew was ever so willing to allow us to join in on their work (yes, we asked to help hoist the sails. It was really a pleasant way to spend our afternoon!

“A great way to spend a gorgeous afternoon.”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We had fantastic weather for our cruise and really enjoyed the tour. Yes, you do only go out and make a big circle but we thought the experience of getting to sail on a schooner was worth it. Our teens helped hoist the sails, which they thoroughly enjoyed, The captain and crew members took turns telling stories about various cruises up and down the east coast (they are in the Caribbean in the winter) as well as about the points of interest we were passing. We got to see a few dolphins too. Would love to go back for a sunset cruise sometime, but would be willing to do the afternoon cruise again too.

“Good time, but it could be improved”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

We took the 2 hour afternoon sail. The Alliance is a beautiful vessel and made for a really fun sailing experience. Unfortunately you don't really go anywhere in 2 hours. We probably actually covered about 1-2 miles each way, which really only meant going out beyond the bridge over the harbor and then turning around.

The boat is really not outfitted for sitting. They have a few boxes along the sides that hold life jackets that some people can sit on, but the rest are left to find any surface to 'sit' on, though many aren't even flat.

That said, we still enjoyed to afternoon and felt like the crew was great with our kids and made the 2 hours entertaining and enjoyable. If only there was a more interesting destination, it would have been perfect.

“Disappointed in Alliance Sailing Cruise”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

We took the Alliance Schooner 2 hour cruise and found it a bit disappointing. Within the first 10 mins of sailing we were given a 'narrative' by Emily, who knew the history of the area very well but it was not in snyc with sailing by the points of interest. By the time we reached these particular points of interests, the descriptions were long over with and we were all left to chat among ourselves for the remainder of the cruise. TThe crew of 3 were friendly. For the price of this sail, we expected a bit more, we also sat in the river for 15-20 mins doing nothing, while a naval ship passed by.......no explanation for this and still no conversation from the crew.

“Pirate Cruise!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

A fun time for all ages. Informative, fun and interesting stories were told by the crew. Everyone had a hand at hoisting the sails. The kids each had their turn at the helm. We got to shout at the scallywags at the pirate school as the cannon was fired!
