We spent almost an entire day visiting the Park from one end to another. Everything was well marked and displayed. Wish we could have stayed longer

A shrine dedicated to where America defeated the British. A very interesting Visitor Center with lots of great items on display including George Washington's tent. The battle fields are the focal point of the park. Excellent self tour of the battlefields or join a tour at the Visitor Center. Very close to the historic area making for a great day. Near a really nice beach with great sand, boat rides, shops, motel, etc.

The battlefields, encampments, bulwarks are still there. The house where the articles of surrender is here. It is our history coming to life.

My wife and I made our first visit to the Yorktown National Historic Park on 9/1/2012. Very impressive overall. Nice visitor center with an excellent introductory film and museum. The self guided driving tours were easy to follow and the river walk is very attractive. My only word of caution is to wait for cooler weather. The humidity in the summer can be oppressive. We will return again to do the walking tours later in the fall.

I wish the weather had cooperated more for us -- it was so hot, we didn't do some of the outdoor exhibits that looked quite good. But regardless, we enjoyed our visit to all three locations: Yorktown, Jamestown, and Williamsburg. There is much to see and do -- well worth a few days. They have done an admirable job of bringing history alive and making it interesting and relevant. We did the historic self-guided driving tours in both Yorktown and Jamestown. The archaeological digs in Jamestown are on-going and divulging excellent glimpses of life in 17th Century Virginia, the earliest days of our country. I was last here 49 years ago, and the progress and development of this site is impressive. Williamsburg was a bit subdued because of the heat, but we found the visits to the Governor's Palace and Capitol, as well as Museum, very worthwhile. Buy the special mug for $11 with free refills -- you even get a root beer float as a free refill! On that hot day, that was very welcomed! Every American should come here at least once.
