I'm not usually a warfare fan, but I did the driving tour in honor of my father, who was. You can buy a CD in the giftshop there at the visitor's center for $4.95 and drive the tour. Wow. it was fascinating! You really get an understanding of what they accomplished there. It made me go back to Williamsburg to see the start and the re-enactments leading to the march to Yorktown. The cannon and mortar are there on the field, and you can drive through the woods where all the encampments were. Definitely worth it. When the kids are tired and grumpy, pop them in the car, let them go to sleep, and drive yourself around.

Before touring the battlefield take some time to walk though the museum and get a glimpse into the lives of a soldier, see what they used and learn about what they endured. The museum is well, done, well maintained and worth stopping.

I did a self guided tour of the battlefield and using the victory center as a starting point helped me appreciate the battlefield tour more. I hope to get back here again and spend more time walking through the battlefields. Great experience and a must see for anyone that cares about our past.

This attraction, like others of a similar nature in this area, is fantastic and interesting. It is well laid out and tells the story of the Battle of Yorktown with exhibits and demonstrations. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful, and there is a superb gift shop. In addition, if required, a free shuttle bus will take you into Yorktown, and/or to the battlefield......well recommended!

We bought combined tickets to Jamestown and Yorktown. After seeing Jamestown, Yorktown was a bit disappointing. Yorktown depicts a time around 1775 and is also situated on the actual spot where the war of Independence was fought and won. However they are building a new facility there and one should wait until it is finished to visit and the one now is just so so. You can see a farm, that is plants no animals, and a smoke house, and settlers cabin. There is an interpretation of what happened to farmers during the war of independence. You can see an encampment and see and hear how they fired muskets and cannons. There is a movie and some displays but not on the scale of Jamestown. There is no food for purchase here but if you go into the town there are many cafes and small restaurants.

Such a lovely area of Virginia with great American History. It is a small area but very interesting and lots to learn. People are friendly and eager to help and guide you. It's not all about collecting money from the visitor, it's about the history. I would go back in a heartbeat. Plus there is a newer riverwalk that is very pleasant with shops and restaurants.
