“Chickasaw Cultural Center- worth a visit!!”

Chickasaw Cultural Center

We completely enjoyed our recent visit. Everyone we spoke with was courteous and helpful. The native dancing exhibition was great and the displays were very interesting and engaging. The village replica is very impressive. The cafe food was very good, and the grounds are kept very well. There are several buildings to see, so plan for an extended time! We were there when it was still winter, so some outdoor things were not open. We are going back in the Spring!

Being from Australia our knowledge of the Chickasaw Indians was not familiar to us. The cultural centre is fairly new and is very well presented and set out. We were greeted at the gate by a very friendly gentleman who provided us with a map of the complex and information on what activities were occurring that day. There is a small entrance fee of $6 - well worth the money. There were a number of craftsman and woman in the foyer who were only too happy to show you how they made their particular pieces and the history associated with it. I was fortunate enough to receive a gift of a pair of handmade earrings, something I will treasure forever.

The cafe serves a variety of foods from traditional Indian fare to you more regular burgers etc at very reasonable prices. We ordered the Chickasaw sampler platter, $6 including a drink. Good food!

The gift shop has a small collection of some of the crafts that are made by the local Chickasaw artists.

A great inexpensive and educational experience.

Beautiful buildings and grounds made a learning experience a delight. Be sure to catch the movie "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee". Much thought has been put into this center with a chance to see an accurate replica of a Chickasaw Village. Employees very friendly and personable. Cafe was closed at time of our visit, but will look forward to visiting again to try it.

I was amazed by the fantastic practices the Chickasaw Nation has in place to protect it's culture, people and plan for the future.

It's a beautiful place and well worth a day visit!
