Hotel was ok and the pool was nice and on the beach. Bad part was Wei had the 11th floor and the 12th is a banquet floor. They had an event that night and decided to start the clean up process at 11:00 PM. The noise from the 101, train and banquet room was a joke! I called the front desk and they acted like I was an idiot. After complaining to 3 different employees in the morning they finally decided to reduce my room rate. I don't think I would stay again at the full room rate as it isn't worth it!

Room Tip: Get a room that faces opposite the 101 and not on the 11th floor.

I stay here regularly during my business travels. I love the ocean views. It's a great deal for your money. The rooms are clean and ok but it is time to update them. Try to stay in a room away from the train tacks if you are a light sleeper. The bar/lobby is a great place to relax and get a drink and appetizers. The restaurant has excellent food but pricey.

We attended an anniversary celebration here and almost everyone in the family had a good experience. The location is on the beach and all rooms have a good view one way of the other. We got a suite with a fold-out bed so we could have a couch and seating area when not sleeping. Room attendants were friendly working around our late-in-the-morning leaving routine. Restaurant breakfasts were good but we almost didn't notice they include a "service charge" as part of the bill, which seems to negate having to tip again. The open bar / lounge area on the ground floor worked great for family members coming and going and gathering. There's a similar area outside with a couple gas fire pits for nice atmosphere. The outdoor pool looked refreshing. We especially enjoyed being able to rent beach cruiser bikes from the front desk and go up and down the paved path a couple miles each direction. Amtrak passes by the hotel every now and then with a loud horn blaring. Main Street in downtown Ventura is very walkable and full of shops and restaurants, plus Starbucks. The only negative during the stay was my sister had a nearby room with smokers often sitting on the balcony. She complained to the front desk, but the next morning, there was the same annoying problem.

We stayed in this hotel because it was the host hotel for our National Dog show specialty. We were excited figuring it would be on par with other host hotel rooms in the past. Unfortunately, this place was in need of major room renovations. The bathrooms for the "suites" were not much better than any motel 6, the rooms are small and the carpet and furniture needed upgrading and replacing. Most upscale hotels, especially one right on the beach in a beautiful popular city have redone their rooms to provide vacationers with larger bathrooms, baths, upgraded bedding, upgraded mattresses, and good sized rooms. This is clearly an old hotel that they just haven't kept up with the current standards. The bar and restaurants are decent but nothing special. If they did a serious re-do of their rooms i would stay there again, otherwise i wouldn't bother.

This hotel was very old, the towels were not soft, the beds were hard and uncomfortable and the housekeeping was horrible. They would clean the room, take the old towels and not leave new ones, then it took forever to have the front desk deliver some. Parking was $10 a day even if you werent able to park in their tiny lot and had to park in the parking garage next door. The view was 50% ocean, 50% busy road. Would NOT STAY HERE again, even if it was free. I have stayed in Motel 6's that were nicer. for the price I was really shocked. I grew up in this town and was back visiting, I guess they just let the hotel go downhill. Oh, and if you stay on the 11th floor, don't expect to get any sleep before 11pm if their is a private party on the top floor. The music blared through the ceiling and when we contacted the front desk, they didnt care, just let us know that quiet time was 11. Not cool, hope this helps you to choose a different hotel. Dont be fooled by their nice looking entrance. Oh yeah, and breakfast for three was $45. Ridiculous.

Room Tip: Just dont stay here. Ocean views arent worth the extra money

Booked this because it looked like one of the better medium price range places. Would NOT stay again. If it wasn't for the morning walk/surf watch and friendly morning bartender I would have rated this all 1's. The rooms are crap. I've seen better motel 6's. They desperately need to be redone and cleaned properly.

The beds had pen and other unmentionable stains. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall. Te "ocean view" was a view of the freeway, parking lot and if you peaked around you could see the ocean. The night manager said they would adjust down the rate to a non view room since there was none.

The next morning the front desk manager checked me out and said the rate had it been adjusted. I imagine this happens all the time since none of the rooms are truley ocean view. She acted like I was crazy and gave me attitude. I was told to call back (after checking out) at 3 to speak to the person who would adjust the room rate.

Wouldn't stay again... Would reccomended staying if this was he only place left in town or you found a $60 rate. The entrance, patio and bar were nice. The view from the patio was nice but there was no hot tub. Stay at your own risk.

PS: Lots of homeless in Ventura.

Thank you for your review of the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach. We are glad that you enjoyed the beautiful location on the beach and found the walks along the Promenade Boardwalk so enjoyable.
We are also glad that you enjoyed the newly renovated Aqua Beachfront Lobby Lounge and Aqua's newly refurnished ocean side lanai patio with the new fire pits and brand new tropical furnishings, beach umbrellas and love seats overlooking the Santa Barbara Channel and the Channel Islands.
Thank you for your very kind comments about the morning team at the Priority Club lobby lounge. It is always great to hear about how our team goes out of their way to insure that our guests truly love their experience in our restaurants and lounges.
It sounds like you did not get one of our newly renovated rooms. We have just begun the process of renovating our hotel rooms including new King size and Queen size beds, a completely new and updated luxurious bedding package, new chairs, new patio furniture, new carpeting, new dressers with granite tops including new refrigerators and microwaves, and new flat screen TV's.
During our summer months and weekends we are usually completely sold out so some of our guests may end up in rooms that have not yet had the full renovation. Perhaps if you can return to visit us in November after our peak season begins to slow down, we can make sure to get you into on of our newly "refreshed" rooms that guests love. Feel free to contact me to coordinate your next stay at our beautiful beach side location here in Ventura Beach.
While every room in the hotel has a patio with a beautiful ocean view, the best views of the ocean from deep inside your room are experienced in our rooms on the West/Northwest side of the building and the higher floors. When calling the hotel to make your next reservation please be sure to request that type of room. During the weekdays (Sunday through Thursdays) and during the slower season (November through February) you will have the best likelihood of securing these rooms, especially if you purchase the room 21 days in advance of your stay. Please contact me personally if I can be of any assistance to you.

We were glad to see that the morning manager made an adjustment to your room bill to insure your return patronage of our hotel, as we move through these ongoing upgrades and service enhancements. Your comments were very helpful to our staff and we used your very valuable input to take that particular room "out of order". Our new Chief Engineer and Executive Housekeeper have begun the process of sprucing up that room so that it meets the standard of excellence more typical of the the rest of our 258 rooms/18 suites. It is only from feedback such as yours that we can continue in our never ending quest for even higher levels of service excellence to insure that we are truly are a hotel that guests love. We are very confident that you will enjoy your next stay with us and we look forward to serving you and hearing your comments on our newly renovated rooms.

Thanks again and safe travels,

The team at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach

We had a great experience. The front desk worked hard to make us happy, including getting us a refrigerator. Every person we spoke with was very friendly. We switched rooms to get a fridge and from I can tell, every room has a view. The price was decent. Love being close to the beach. Not bad for being an old hotel. We will definitely be back. Only descrepancy...no jacuzzi.

Room Tip: Even numbers look toward sunset. Odd numbers look toward pier. Floors 8 and up have refrigerators.
