The place is quaint and the server knew everything about the menu! A plus when ordering. Get there early though as there is always a line to get in. Super fresh and great service done right!

Hey Ventura! Wake up! You've got a first rate dinner restaurant in your midst and it was all but empty at 7PM last Saturday night. A return for brunch on Sunday and the place was packed with a 20 minute wait. What do you do on Saturday night? Call out for third rate pizza?

Six of us had a splendid meal from the extensive menu that mixes a slight tang of continental with the deft touch of modern south of the border. Service was prompt and excellent (what else did the staff have to do?)

My wife and I split two entrees. Mac-n-cheese as a first course and an Ahi Tortilla role as an entree. The Mac-n-cheese came as two large bowls of the pasta, each one of which in our estimation was a full dinner size. The macharoni was al dente, the blends of cheese rich and creamy with chunks of bacon and white mushrooms topped with fresh Parmigiano. A little black pepper and it was glorious.

For our entree we shared the ahi tuna in crispy tortilla role that came with side salad. The rolls were basically two flour tortilla tacos rolled and crispy fried and cut in half. The tangy mayo on the tender fish was excellent and the two tacos came cut in half so we each had two portions that were filling. The accompanying wasabi laced dressing added precisely the right touch.

One guest had the Ahi appetizer that, again was an entree sized portion with 6 perfectly seared generous slices of Ahi displayed on top of some raw veggies. She accompanied that with an order of fried green beans appetizer that proved to be a LARGE platter filled with tender greenbeans in what can only be called tempura coating perfctly done with a dipping sauce. We all tasted the beans and they were delightful.

Other guests has a rare rib-eye steak, a ling cod filet served in a Thai style and a Poblano chile stuffed with sea food. All eaten with relish.

Two bottles of Chardonnay (Fess Parker (Santa Barbara) and Ferrari-Carano (San Luis Obispo) were crisp and very well priced.

Two deserts were eaten by others (Berry Crumb Cake and a Chocolate cake were eaten by others.

Total bill without the wine for SIX: $145.00.

Maybe everyone in Ventura knows how good it is and stays away on Saturday night so they can stuff themselves on Sunday Brunch here?

Had a delicious breakfast here and loved the charming setting. It is clearly a renovated old home so seating is in various rooms. We opted for the outdoor patio area which is surrounded by plants that keep it private from the street. Loved this area. The breakfast menu was varied. In our group we had the Brioche French toast, the Waffles and Eggs Nouveau which was their take on Eggs Benedict. everyone enjoyed their meal. The syrup is a Vanilla carmel syrup which was quite good - the menu did state you could get the regular maple syrup if you requested. Brioche French toast was very good. On a Saturday there seemed to be a constant wait outside but our wait was only 15 minutes

Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Generous portions, great service (June is the best), and good food all inside a converted 1920s Spanish house. You and your pooch can also dine al fresco on their patio. For dinner, I recommend the stuffed avocado rolls, the Empanaldo del Mar (seafood in parchment) and the seafood stuffed pasilla pepper. Their burgers aren't half bad either. Long lines on the weekends for breakfast. We typically go for dinner on Friday evenings and have never had to wait for a table. Really great local spot!

My wife and I eat here often. The food is always excellent. We have dined here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have always been treated to a terrific meal. The service is friendly and prompt. There is a nice outdoor patio space which is great when the weather is good. We think the prices are very fair and the serving sizes are just right for us. As you can tell, we enjoy eating here and we enjoy treating our friends and family. Give it a try, we think you will like it.
