I ate with a group of 8 at this restaurant on July 4. The restaurant was obviously trying to cram as many people as possible into the restaurant on what I will give them was a very busy night on the beach in Ventura. Honestly, I didn't have more than six inches to move my chair in and out from the table (up against a wall) and I almost lost the tip of my finger when I pinched it between the arm of my chair and the chair next to me.
What the busy night didn't explain was the filth of the place and the quality of the food. We were seated in the solarium area of the restaurant, where the floor looked like it had been hosed off after a night of spilled beer and peanuts. The chairs were soiled beyond belief and the menus were stained, covers cracked, and the plastic covers over the pages were greasy, smudged, and fingerprinted.
Our server couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating; however, when the meals came out, half of them had to be sent back because they were cold. The only people satisfied were those who ordered steak. Those with fish were very disappointed.
Personally, I had king crab legs -- restaurants in general have adopted the practice of scoring the legs to make it "easier" for the diner to eat them. This is fine if they do it AFTER the legs are cooked -- at Aloha, they had apparently scored them BEFORE steaming, and the crab meat was water-logged and rubbery. They had been cooked a LONG time before they were served to me.
And, the worst thing -- (almost as bad as the filth) -- the crab legs were not served with drawn butter, but rather a pool of cold melted MARGARINE.
I was absolutely appalled by this place and will never go back.
