I had the pleasure of visiting Discovery Ventura while vacationing from Seattle. I found Discovery had everything to offer, from their beautiful menu items, freshly prepared, to their warm ambiance. The brunch menu is scrumptious! The staff was extra caring and greeted us with friendly smiles . The staff gave a lovely atmosphere to the resturant. This is a very well run establishment with excellent service. I felt satisfied and indulged. My needs were anticipated, my taste buds tickled, and my belly noursished. I am happy to say that I experienced the awesomeness of Discovery Ventura!
I will definitely be back!

Even though I miss its dark old bar, leeky roof, mildewed carpet and juke box, the owners did a beautiful job restoring this 60 year old building. If you've always dreamed about enjoying your eggs benedict and bottomless mimosas with a side of bowling, then Discovery is the place for you on a late Sunday morning. The food is reasonably priced and decent. The crab fries are really good. With only eight lanes, arrive early on Friday evenings and weekends if you don't want to wait to bowl. And, be prepared for some sticker shock. After lane and shoe rental, we paid $40 for 30 minutes on a Friday at 4:00 for two people (better deals exist during the week). The bowling area also seemed a bit cramp for larger groups. But, whatever- it's a novel concept to Ventura and you don't have to bowl. You could sit outside by the fireplace and watch the homeless on Thompson instead :) Don't let its odd name deter you, Discovery is worth checking out.

I bowled at this place as a kid when it was a dark, smokey bowling alley. The place is really opened up now with a unique open- beam ceiling, large bar, groovy artwork, and a glass wall on the front that can open on to the front deck, complete with a fireplace.
We hit happy hour (3 to 6 weekdays) and enjoyed $5 nachos, a huge bowl of edamame, and tasty sliders. They offer good house wines and a huge beer selection. The downside is it is still a loud bowling alley, but it is now light and open and smoke free with much better food choices and spacious seating.

My wife and I have been here several times now and Discovery has never failed. Happy Hour is lively and enjoyable. The dinner atmosphere is upbeat and interesting. Most important, the food and service is exceptional. We're somewhat older but feel very comfortable here with the youthful exuberance that exists with bowling, the bar, TV and a very pleasant clientele. Attire is casual and I'm usually wearing nice jeans. This is a refurbished, very dated bowling alley so look around and enjoy the upgrade which still preserves history.

Looking for your "Cheers" location? This is it. Discovery does it all. Great location, friendly service. Bar tenders and staff know you. Good quality food and while you're there, bowl a few strikes! Perfect for all ages and families.

Can't go wrong with the goat cheese nom noms their signature mule cocktail and the crab enchiladas. Hard choice in the lava cake or creme brûlée for dessert so get them both and share!
