We've seen many critters while we were having fun. Waves were fun, sandbars made interestiing peaks. Cool water, not cold we wore wetsuits all day anyway

“Great beach for families”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

Nice clean beach within walking distance from parking lot. Gets really crowded when the weather heats up so go early to get your spot. I usually stay away from this park if it's too crowded..I like a little more peace and quite and tend to go early in the morning before the crowds inundate the park especially in the summer.or weekends.

“Oceanfront campground and day use parking to enjoy beach and sunsets”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

I visit here often since I have a state park pass(otherwise day use is $10). Emma Wood is only a mile up the coast from Ventura, but a world away. Tucked behind a ridge separating the park from the freeway and the train tracks, there are miles of hiking/biking trails along the coast. Day use parking at the park entrance provides sunsets and island views, access to surfing, and a sandy beach. You do have to scramble over some boulders to access the beach, but there are some nice tide pools and a sand dollar or two, shorebirds, the occasional dolphin and harbor seal. Camping is rustic with portable toilets only, but fire pits are provided, and parking is right next to the waves.

“Nice quiet place to walk along the beach.”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

It was a windy day, but we enjoyed our time on the beach. We parked along CA-1 just outside the park and looped around. Looks like a good place to camp in better weather.
