Seated in a private room with a group of 8, we enjoyed several bottles of wine, oysters, ceviche and a variety of fish dinners. The local halibut was the best of the bunch, but others enjoyed tuna, sand dabs and char. This is the second Lure Fish House to open and we have been eagerly awaiting this new and beautifully decorated downtown location. A little on the pricey side, but for excellent fresh fish and atmosphere, it's worth it for a splurge.

Tried to get in last week for happy hour...a friday but was told a 20 minute wait. We opted for next door, Cafe Fiore. Tried again today for our anniversary. Immediate seating at the oyster bar. Excellent service. Mike behind the oyster bar took care of us. Great spirit and personality. Made us really enjoy being served by him. All the other personnel was just as attentive. Mike suggested a Captains Feast which included shrimp, scallops, a fish choice, a nice lobster tail, and the "killer" BBq'd oysters. We had a 1/2 doz raw oysters with the $3 happy hour wine...best we've had. Desert was comp'd by Mike for our anniversary. Looking forward to our next visit.

The physical beauty of the place is outstanding and the big city vibe and bar scene reminds you of Chicago or New York. It will change the restaurant scene in Ventura dramatically. The food, however, doesn't do it justice. Maybe the place is still too new to really have the food dialed in.
Calamari that is cooked well but lacks any depth of favor. Sauces were good but nothing special.
Crab cakes were soft, almost mushy, not a very good recipe. The chef should take a look at McLane’s North American Fish Cookery, Page 205.
The simple slaw that the crab cakes were served on however, was superb. Light cabbage, fresh corn, sweet peppers and dressed simply and delicious, it might have been the best thing we had.
The chowder was ok but the clam flavor seemed vague as if the clam base used was not of the best quality or they don't use enough in the recipe.
The Fish Taco needs some work. The tortilla was warm but raw and the fish and filling were just average. Many places in town serve better.
The fresh oysters, Blue Points, were as fresh any I have tasted, even in Long Island.
The warm bread was of the very best quality and baked fresh in the kitchen.

The stars of the evening were the staff. Customer focused, well trained and attentive.
I will definitely give this place another try. Congratulations on opening such a beautiful restaurant in Ventura.

Went here during my visit to Ventura for the first time. Had no idea it just opened when I went in. There is a fun and cute bar area along with a more secluded dining area if you want to stay away from it. Its great for drinks with friends or a good seafood meal. The fresh fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. My friends and I shared the crab cakes which we loved! Their drink menu has fun cocktails and yummy fresh squeezed juices. The service was great! Which was a nice change compared to most restaurants in LA. Pleasantly surprised by Ventura's new restaurant!

They had a cute patio I want to sit at next time!
